Why not degrade beliefs? If a belief can't stand up to scrutiny by others, then it's not much of a belief.
And, yes, I really do know. I have lots of evidence on my side that shows that all gods are just man-made superstitions. There's next to nothing on the other side to indicate that any gods actually exist.
BTW, we can actively criticize each other's beliefs and still get along. You can respect the person without having to respect each and every fairytale the person believes true.

that's not true. what you are asking is for us to reconcile our similarities, which there almost are none.
christians cannot agree even among themselves. atheists are in full agreement. have you ever stopped to wonder why?
christians have to base their religion on their own personal values. since there are no set values as we are all unique, the bible is interpreted differently by each christian. your beliefs represent who you are so christians have to reconcile their actual beliefs with their religion.
the bible is open to interpretation and therefore, inconsistent and incomplete. atheists can recognize this. this is how they are able to agree. their belief is not based on their own personal values, but on evidential truth regardless of their own values.
because they have no personal stake, they can be objective and honest, while christians try to make the religion fit their preconcieved notions of what constitutes good and evil. this is why their view is subjective and, therefore, unreliable.

Don't worry, it's possible. I like to think that I get along with most people on here, except the trolls. Then again I also don't claim to have absolute truth, so that might have something to do with it.

Ah, but some of us know a little better than others. Thats the rub. And I never 'degrade' other's beliefs, I just try to help them see the light. There is no evidence for the existance of god. Let go of it already.

A person can only be degraded if they give that power to the other person.

Because people refuse to keep their beliefs to themselves, and feel they must attempt to force them on others.
The rest of us aren't just sitting back and taking it.
