There is a tendency among people who believe in God to feel that they are a privileged group, that they carry with them some cast-iron guarantee that their future is absolutely secure. The concept of a "chosen people" is not really confined to the Jews. We find it among Christians also.

We are all sinners, but some folks like to think that they are 'above' or better than others, so they use this term "saved" so loosely that it has lost it's meaning. They use it mainly in reference to 'once saved always saved' which not a truth.

The primary role of the Christian community has never been simply to guarantee the "salvation" of its own members.

The original word is justification-but the meaning is the same, all Christians agree that we are saved by God's grace alone- Catholics and Protestants and Orthodox, but catholics and Orthodox believe we can after the initial "saving" be made holy and godlike because the Holy Spirit works in us.

That's why Catholics and Orthodox believe that some people reach a more perfect union with God- the Saints.

It's just "churchese" also known as "the language of Zion" and while it's great shorthand for believers to mean "had a conversion experience" it's confusing for others. My professors strongly urged us not to use it unless the other person in the conversation knew what it meant.

Well the bible says that we are "SAVED by grace through faith". That is kinda the whole point of that Jesus thing, saving people from the wrath of an angry God, by the perfect sacrifice of the sinless lamb of God.
