He knows every hair on our heads (which implies an exhorbitant amount of time spent counting them) but if one of our eyes causes us to sin - well, just pull it out and throw it away! Who needs eyes??

Why, oh why, God?

If you knew God at all, you would know that it doesn't take Him any time to count all the hairs on our head. But that verse shows how much He loves us and how important we are to Him.

And re. the eye verse, which isn't related to the hairs on our head verse, if someone is an alcoholic, obviously he would get rid of all the liquor in his house, so he doesn't relapse. That's why pedophiles are forbidden to be around children. It's a matter of removing the temptation that causes the sin.

As far as the internet is concerned, Black men and White men seem to really like acting like Black women are all so bad. Thats another reason why I respect Latino and Asian guys so much more. The things I've seen online written by Black/White guys stereotyping Black women makes me think that many of them are just pathetic and stupid. I never know if the White or Black guy I see who smiles at me during the day would just as easily say "Black women are blah blah blah ((insert something bad))" so I just don't really like them much. In America, both the Black and White men have some p r o b l e m s with women. seriously.

God has been into hair since the Old Testament with Samson of Judaism.

There also was something about Jacob and Esau and hair.

Maybe it was part of an agreement with the local barbers' guild/union? Mention hair and the barbers would deliver members for mandatory baptism/whatever?

The Bible is the best example of symbolism. Not every part of the Biblical text can be construed as literal.

He was extraordinarily obsessed with hair, wasn't he? No bald men in the temple. Women had to cover their hair. Yet, he had a bald prophet. Wishy-washy.

Does that mean I sin when I cut my hair?

Hair is the devil. Muslims have to cover their hair, because it is tempting. The eyes aren't really windows to our thoughts, so they can be left open. But hair is bad, m'kay...
