Sometimes people will say "Wow!! How much did your camera cost to do a beautiful picture like that"? I will say (And this reply makes my wife angry) "My camera cost me 50 dollars. I picked it up at a second hand store". (Now, This is after I used a three light set up with a Monte Zucker background and a light meter to make sure I got it all right) I love to see the look on people's face when they think my camera is 50 dollars and I have a 10 dollar lens on it. (Lens 105.....2.8)

Well it sounds like you're just proving the old adage "it's not the camera". Of course, your 3 light setup probably didn't cost just 50 bucks either, further proof that there's more to photography than the camera.

Thats the dream of a photographer. To be able to say: "yeah, my camera is a piece of shít, your crappy pictures arn't the fault of your camera. My good ones arn't either." Tell your wife to suck it (probably something with a little more tact would work as good). ;-)

People care about what camera you used the same way they care about what brushes Picasso used.

This is an issue between you and your wife. Why does she expect you to lie?

I can take a number of guesses, as to why, but, only she can answer that for you.
