For Christmas last year I got this straightner. It say's its professional, but I deff don't think so. Like most cheap straightners, it will keep my hair straight, well as straight as it will go, for about 10-20 minutes. Then, as soon as I go outside & if it's windy. My hair goes all , wavy & it's really bad. I want to be able to wear my hair down without having to worry about it being a mess. What should I do?!

You need to use professional salon products, specifically formulated for straightening. This will help you really take advantage of your straightening iron, as you really should have the right styling products in your hair, before you use the flat iron. The products help keep the straight style "set" and held all day.
Try Tigi Bed Head Control freak, shampoos, conditioners, and styling products.
Here's a link to a ton of professional straightening products.

Do you want straight hair for the day or for a longer period of time?
For a much longer period of time, go to the professionals! There are chemicals and none chemical straighten techniques that the professional know how to use. This will last any where from 3-6months. It can be very costly how ever. And you will need to touch it up, to keep your hair looking so straight.
A need for just one day, over the counter. Buy good straighten shampoo, conditioner and styling products.
Wash out the shampoo, leave in conditioner for a minimum of 3 mins and then rise with cold water. This will also help the shine of your hair. Towel dry your hair and place straighten cream into your hair. With a round brush, blow dry your hair. Dry the hair towards your neck, to get the straight look. If your dry the hair away from your neck, the hair with curl out ward. For more hold, LIGHTLY place more straighten cream into hair and you can then LIGHTLY spray your hair with hair spray if its a windy day.

There can be many causes for your hair problem. You aren't using the right straightening product, you have a cheap straightener, or your hair may be really thick.
I have really thick and heavy hair. I just got it thinned, and whenever I straighten it, it never stays straight because it's weighed down.
If I were you, I'd make an appointment with a hair dresser to get it thinned. They use this special kind of scissors to thin it out. And for products, I use Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight line(you can find it at Target and Walmart pretty much)It works perfectly.
I hope that helps!

you need a straightening spray.
Keratin MIST by CHI is really good, simply spray give 2 or 3 quick spirts of the spray on each section your about the flat-iron. and it'll stay amazingly straight until the next time you shower.
