Depends on what you are sick with. Generally speaking very light foods are best; anything to hydrate you like fruits, less acidic fruit juices like apple juice. Blueberry juice mixed with plain soda tastes wonderful, feels good going down, and helps build back your immune system. If you are pukey then good ol seven up is the best to keep your stomach settled. Stay away from junk food like heavy sugars, salty snacks and the like. Warm cereals are good and like it or not if you have a cold the truth of the matter is the ingredients in homemade chicken soup really and truly will help you get well and feel better faster.

If you want to feel much better, drink hot lemonade especially at bed time it will help you sleep and is a very old remedy.

Depends on what you are sick with -- a cold, or stomach flu

If you are sick with a cold, sore throat etc, the best foods are soft foods

stomach flu -- 7 up with the fizz stirred out of it to settle your stomach then light eating until 24 hours is up

Depending on the illness, use easily digested foods and nutritionally intense ones as well. Puddings, custards, yogurt, pasta ,toast, crackers, applesauce and good canned or home made soups or stews. If your stomach is rebelling, stick to clear, bland liquids till you feel in control:ergo chicken broths. If you have a bad cold, use more intense flavored things to encourage your appetite.
Fruit smoothies are also excellent

For something bland id really like heating up a tortilla and melting shome butter on it and layering some shredded baked chicken. For drinks i highly suggest a nice hot mug of apple cider with a cinnamon stick. Youll feel better in no time!

Depends on what's wrong. If I have a head or chest cold, I mix hot water, honey and lemon in a 16 ounce glass and then add a double shot of brandy.

Depends on what ails you ~ if you are stuffed up, I would go with something SPICY like mexican food to help the sinuses and usually when you're sick, you can't taste alot, so the more flavor, the better chance of tasting it.

i pretty much lose my appetite when i'm sick with a common cold, but if i do eat i make sure it's loaded with cayenne pepper. if you don't know about cayenne peppers healing properties do some research on it. it also clears your sinuses pretty good too.

my uncled snorts a pinch, or maybe a half pinch, of it when one side of his nose is clogged up and it opens right up.

i put the link to the google search for "cayenne pepper common cold" below.
