Has anyone had any problems with evo wet food? My friend had a cat die on her last night. The cat was in great shape. 9 years old. She fed her dinner from a new case and she started throwing up. She called the vet and the vet would not come in to see her and she died at about 1 this morning. They are doing a necropsy today. The cat was in great shape. She just started vomiting after eating evo wet cat food last night. I know it is made in a menu plant. Any one else had a problem like this? We have a call into both evo and the fda.

She was fed evo for the past 3 years when her owner desided to go grain-free.

That was the other wierd thing, the dates were all good but there were two cans in the sealed case with diffrent dates. That was the first thing we checked when she started vomiting.

I've never had a problem like that or heard of a cat dying from it. Was she always on Innova Evo? If not, then it could have been a really bad food allergy. If she's been on Evo, then maybe, though the can was new to you, it was fairly old.

I work at a petstore, and even if we get a shipment of something that can spoil, we always check the dates. Just because it's new to the store doesn't mean it's "new". It could have been sitting in our warehouse for a long time, or sitting at the makers warehouse for a while.

If you are going to feed your cat the wet food, always check the expiration date.

So sorry about your friends can

The food may have been incidental, the full stomach a complication for something else going on. I'm not sure if a necropsy can find what was wrong, if it was pancreatitis coming on hard and fast (throwing up is a sign of it) that could have been the reason. Or anything else, too, I suspect.

I haven't heard of any recalls on Evo or California Natural in recent days.

The recall area is listed under 'news' about 3/4 of the way down the page.

I don't feed canned Evo, but I've never heard of a problem with it. That doesn't mean there couldn't be one - of global proportions or on a small scale. But there's no point in speculating - you'll have the results soon enough.

However, unless the can was tampered with and contained some deadly poison, I rather doubt it was the food that caused the death.
