Did Adam and Eve have Navels? by Dennis Tice
Did Adam & Eve have navels or a blank spot where it should be?
Do other folks lie awake at night or is it only me,
Thinkin' about the question that plagues all mankind?
H m m m m
Belly-button fuzz wuzza part of creation, how could I be so blind?
I think I'll start a church someday to preach this creed of mine.
Cause Adam & Eve had navels and I'll prove it at the end of time.
Sure "God is love" and "Jesus saves" but what about this truth?
I found the answer just last year in John Chapt. 2
Seek out the truth, the truth will set you free.
Wait upon the Lord in all sincerity,
And then you'll reach the highest level of Christianity.
When you become a Navelist, your eyes will finally see,
That Adam and Eve had navels, I'm telling you today,
Yeah, I'm splitting hairs for Jesus and that makes it all okay,
And I'm going to take you deeper then your eyes can currently see.
I'm splitting hairs for Jesus for more spirituality.
I shared this truth with all the land and Navelism grew.
A thousand members growing strong, ( cause I preach salvation too).
But now the church is splitting over some technicality,
Did their buttons go in or pop out, how picky can they be?

They were both carried in the womb of God's love and does it really change anything. Carry out this line of thinking. If He spoke into existence the Garden He planted, with a "Let there be" did the trees have growth rings? did the adult animals have belly buttons either? If the rocks were carbon dated, would they read millions of years ago? Did the plants have strong mature roots or were they still wobbling on top of the ground? Did the Earth have stata? Did the oil and minerals show age? What's the difference in "new" oil or the kind that takes millions of years and pressure? What is IS and thank God..., and ASK HIM for those "unrevealed" things. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things NOT SEEN. Have FAITH in God and His word without definitive answers of HOW.

If you are one of the minority of Christians who believe in Creationism, then probably not.
If you are one of the majority Christians who beleive in the theory of Evolution, then yes. The evolving original humanlike creatures to whom God gave souls and made into human beings (that we call Adam and Eve) did have bellybuttons.
Most Christians including Catholics do not take the stories of creation in the Bible literally. They believe the book of Genesis tells religious truth and not necessarily historical fact.
One of the religious truths is that God created everything and declared all was good.
Catholics can believe in the theory of evolution. Or not. The Church does not require belief in evolution.
On August 12, 1950 Pope Pius XII said in his encyclical Humani generis:
The Teaching Authority of the Church does not forbid that, in conformity with the present state of human sciences and sacred theology, research and discussions, on the part of men experienced in both fields, take place with regard to the doctrine of evolution, in as far as it inquires into the origin of the human body as coming from pre-existent and living matter - for the Catholic faith obliges us to hold that souls are immediately created by God.
Here is the complete encyclical: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xii/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xii_enc_12081950_humani-generis_en.html
The Church supports science in the discovery of God's creation. At this time, the theory of evolution is the most logical scientific explanation. However tomorrow someone may come up with a better idea.
As long as we believe that God started the whole thing, both the Bible and modern science can live in harmony.
With love in Christ.

Option 1: They were not born, therefore no bellybuttons.
Option 2: God created them with bellybottons to save them of the trouble of explaining to Cain, Abel, and their brother and sisters why Dad's and Mom's bellies are different.
You see, I go with Option #1.

Great Question ~ made me laugh ~ best question I have seen all day.Like to ask this one down the pub! And at the Church! {Even thou I am never a church goer}.
I think God was a spaceman and Adam & Eve came of the spaceship that God was flying. When they landed on Earth, Adam & Eve thought that something was missing from their bodies and created a belly button.
The bible for me is the biggest story book of all time. There will never be a true account of the main story because story tellers of ancients times always changed the stories to suit themselves.

No. They were created fully grown. You only get a belly button after you are born and have your umbilical cord cut.

Cool question.
I have no answer, but I also wonder why God (if he exists) created only two people? Who will their kids marry/reproduce with if they are the only family on the planet?

LMAO.
No, I don't think they would have, if they in fact were the first people on Earth, which we know science shows the bible is poppycock. But, seriously, you crack me up when I read your quesiton. Hehehe. I'm going to ask my super religious mom that question and see what she says. Thanks.

its a purely fictional story, so we don't get the details. however, 'god' probably created tham with belly buttons, because he must have known how future generations would look as he is supposedly omniscient (all seeing/all knowing)
