Hi i have a staffy pup of 16 weeks, i am finding him hard to drink water. We go for long walks and things and if i go work come home he don't seem to drink water. He is going for a wee ok and bowels are well. I have given him milk only a couple of times as i don't want him to get used to it.
Is staffys known to not drink water? Any more tips be helpfull 2.

You will probaby find that he is getting plenty of fluids from other places. His diet may contain already quite moist foods and if he is anything like my dogs he will ignore fresh water and drink from little puddles on the kids garden toys.

I always find that milk gives my dogs diarrhea.

My staffy is 7 months and he doesnt drink much either - he sometimes does after a walk, sometimes after a meal but that's about it.
His weeing and pooing is fine too - don't be too worried, as long as he knows where his water is he will drink what he needs, and theres no harm in milk every now and then - we give ours some milk every morning out of the cereal bowls!

staffies tend to drink more in the summer than in the cooler weather our puppy is a staffie cross english bull and he only visits the drink bowl 2 or 3 times a day he is the same age as yours. hope this helps

the first staffy we had didn't drink much and we were constantly worried about him. he tended only to drink it when it was really cold and he would drink it before we had even put the bowl on the floor.

but then he wouldnt touch water again until it was cold and fresh (weird)

but the staffy we have now, he drinks water all the time (and hes sooo mmessy) he drinks loads.

i suppose all dogs are differnent. you could always nip him to vet and double check. better to be safe than sorry.

No milk. dogs are lactose intolerant. However, a bit of chicken broth mixed half and half with water will make most finicky drinkers better. Also try a good wet puppy food like Merrick or wellness. they are pretty easy to come by. If he has wet food he will drink less because he is getting it in his food. this is more natural since they eat raw meat in the wild and that is about %80 moisture and kibble is only about %12. Don't get canned food from just any were. low quality will cause the runs and also bad teeth. but high quality will keep him in good shape. good luck!

i can in basic terms answer as a Staffie proprietor, in no way had a Am artwork stress: a million) Which breed is stronger? i think the AM 2) Which breed is greater handy to coach? the two are soooo rapid & clever, regularly very food inspired!! 3) Which breed is larger with toddlers? do no longer think of there is any distinction if raised authentic!! Mine adore my 2yr previous, even my rescues!! 4) If a intruder did destroy into my domicile, would desire to a american staffordshire terrier guard my kinfolk if the intruder threatened us? 5) If a intruder broke into my domicile, would desire to a staffordshire bull terrier guard my kinfolk if the intruder threatened us? Lol!! regrettably they had be greater probably to lick them to dying!! yet they have a fierce bark!! 6) What are the temperament ameliorations between the two breeds? do no longer think of there is one, Staffies often are only the main loving canines... they actually do have self belief they are lap canines!! no rely if it truly is my 14" lady or my sixteen" 3 st lady!! Lol!! Please rescue tho, there are maximum of in shelters, one in all mine is a foster, besides the undeniable fact that it truly would be a miracle if we can get her a house... :(

i have 2 staffies , one drinks normal the other drinks a lot less. heres whats worked for us:

use a non reflective bowl, ie not steel
mix water with his food
use a new, more interesting bowl ( maybe bright coloured)

My staffy pup (8 months now) started like that, but now she drinks plenty as we go for very long walks. If you are concerned then phone your vets and ask for some advice.

He will drink when he is thirsty. Some dogs drink more than others. The milk isn't harmful - but it may give him diarrhea.
Just make sure that his water is clean & fresh - change it every day. He will be fine.

if he is urinating he is probly drinking when your not around, some dogs dont drink as much water and thats what wet food is for, but i would try and place water in his food bowl with his food, so he is consuming the water with out knowing
