Use Advantix or Frontline - It's the best $12 a month you could spend on your dogs and will save you bundles in trying home / store bought remedies.

Aww, babe.
I know, fleas are the pest of all pest!
I'd suggest going on and getting some topical flea prevention.
Like Frontline Plus or other leading competitors.
This will kill off 99% of fleas within a 2 day period.
It also prevent the fleas from reproducing or physically maturing.
In the mean time, bath your pooch in some baking soda, mild shampoo or a flea prevention soap just for dogs.
You can also find powder to sprinkle on your floor to repeal any fleas or ticks from your home.
Good Luck!

What have you used so far?
Usually using one of the following spot-ons for your dog: Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate will work - so long as you get it properly on the skin of the animal, and do NOT bath the animal within 48 hours before or after applying the spot-on. These are both important points to observe!
It's also important to spray your house - get a decent spray from the vets - Indorex, Skoosh, Acclaim and Staykil are all good. You may have to spray your house twice, 10 days apart, to get any newly hatched eggs
Home remedies are a waste of time unfortunately. People on here are going to suggest garlic, salt, borax, neem oil, dawn dish soap and what else? Oh yeah, diatomaceous earth. Yeah, I think those are all of the usual things people on here suggest. Don't bother.

If you don't get rid of every single flea, you'll likely experience the problem for a long time to come. You need to get the fleas and the eggs out of the environment first- call Terminix. Fleas can leave thousands and thousands of eggs so if you don't kill all of them, you have no hope. Send your dogs to the groomer while Terminix is at your house and then you should be good to go.

ok so you have some good suggestions already here's mine the sevin dust outside, dawn dish soap on the pet weekly leave it on for at least 5 minutes to smother the fleas, for the house try 20 mules powder cleaner sprinkle in carpeted areas and puppy bedding area take your broom and work it into the carpet let is sit at least 1 hour but 24 hours is best then vaccum. Continue to do the regime weekly (except the yard do it about 1x per month) until you are free on fleas for a month. Good luck.

There is no easy solution to fleas. You must attack them from three seperate fronts. House, yard and dog. There are plenty of chemical or organic sprays on the market to treat your home and yard. I use frontline on my dogs with mixed results. One dog never has a flea, the other has them all the time. I use a flea comb on the one that still gets fleas; get a glass of water with a few drops of dawn dishwashing liquid in it... use long steady strokes with the comb at an angle with the dogs body and immediately dunk the comb in the glass. The dawn kills the fleas on the spot. Repeat, repeat, repeat 'til you get all the little #$(@s. Good luck!

Frontline is great for the flea problem on your pets. Make sure they don't get wet for 48 hours both before and after you apply the Frontline.
As far as the fleas in your house, there is a Frontline spray you can use on your carpet and furniture. When you vaccuum, either change out your bag every time, or, if you have a bagless, dump it outside and then rinse it out so that you aren't just storing them in the vaccuum.

well im a groomer and i kno how hard it is to have fleas and get rid of them, as a groomer we can only kill the fleas that are on the dog and the only thing a vet can do is sell you frontline and flea pills, so thats only takeing care of the dog, YOU need to get the house bombed, while the dog is at the groomers getting rid of his fleas you should be at ur house getting rid of yours, they do sell flea and tick spray that you can spray in your house (adams works best) but the fumes are harmful in large amounts. im surprised the groomer didnt inform you that you need to take care of your ouse also.

When I got my pup from the breeder she was INFESTED.
1st - Take her to the vet and have a topical flea treatment applied. (Sorry, but you got to take one last trip to the vet, or purchase it online.) My vet applied the revolution treatment.
2nd - Bath your dog in Dawn dish soap (the original blue kind). 12 hours after the topical treatment.
3rd - Place you dog in the tub after he is dry (12 hours or so) and take a flea comb and brush out all the dead and remaining bugs. Being in the bath will prevent the fleas from jumping in the house.
4th - One last Dawn bath and let the soap and water sit on your pup for a least 5 minutes.
Honestly, my dog was INFESTED, and does not have a single flea after I did this treatment! It worked tremendously!

we have the same problem, there is NO year without fleas. what i found best so far is bather them often with flea shampoo that also has oatmeal in it to calm the irritation. also and this might sound weird , but, if u have the kind of dog that will eat anything feed him little chunks of garlic. it is cheap, won't hurt him and the fleas HATE it!!!!!!!! another thing we do is in the worst areas of the bites we cover them with vaseling or vegetable oil, the fleas can not breathe in that oily stuff.......good luck
