The term is used in 2 ways:

- Coax output usually means CATV coax. This has "F" connectors on either end and screws into something with a TUNER. This means a VCR or a TV that can select a channel, or a CATV box.

- "Coaxial Digital" is a RCA jack that outputs digital sound. You can use an ordinary video cable (with yellow markings on the RCA plug) to transfer audio from a DVD player/CATV box/SAT box to a AV-receiver that will split the 5.1 digital sound to 5 speakers and a subwoofer.

Usually coax cable comes in black, there is a copper ground wire in the middle that transmits to your electronic. It just screws in. Personally I think Coaxals are outdated.
