The Stories you mean, Definitely You must have a certain Understatement of what was life like in those days to get the whole Moral, Specially in the Good Samaritan Story. But Our Advanced Technological Society does need the Morals in those Stories. Because What are we Humans with out Feelings or Morality? Simple Machines. A Machine Wouldn't Help his enemy Like the good Samaritan or Forgive someone who abandon it like The Father in The Prodigal Son. This Stories and the teachings of Jesus are strongly Relevant, For they keep this Advanced Technological Society of ours from becoming a Cold Heartless world.

Sure our soceity is vastly different to that of Jesus and there have been massive technological advances in the past 2000 years but the messages of those stories (helping those who need it and standing up for what is right) are still relevant ..and I think that's pretty amazing.
