I would definitely prefer a red - doesn't have to be a heavy one. Something along the line of a pinot noir would be really nice. Great idea, by the way!

as a realtor you are helping people buy a home and they need to celebrate. so sparkling wine comes to mind first. I would do a nice blanc de blancs.
me personally, I would rather have somebody give me a red over a white. Probably a zinfandel (the red kind) or sangiovese.
For what i would do a pinot grigio or sauvginon blanc. Chardonnay is safe, but not always that good. These days they are way to oaky and taste funny.
i would definately not do a rose. I work in the wine industry and I have yet to find a rose that I like. they are all way too sweet for me.

Another idea is perhaps a bottle of sparkling wine since owning a house is a celebration.
Otherwise, I would recommend a red wine like a pinot noir or a zin. They are generally lighter on the taste. However, here are some reds (merintage) that are VERY good and under $20.
1. SIMI Alexander Vally Cab
2. Cinnebar's Mercury Rising
3. Rosenblum's Cuvee
4. Gallo Sonoma - the Sonoma part is VERY important
If you're looking for something a bit more expensive, ping me. I can give you a nice list based on your price range.

Blush wines are versatile and would make a good gift. Don't worry about the pink color, it's wine. Honestly, to me, a good wine of any type is a good gift, it doesn't matter if it's white, blush, or red. If you want to give them as gifts to clients, I was also thinking that a sparkling wine would be a good choice. After all, you are helping people make a property purchase, which definitely calls for celebrations.

Make it red. Guys hate the color pink, so that would be a bad choice. White is not a good idea, to many people either really like white wine, or really hate white wine. Going with red is the safe solution, everyone will drink red wine or knows someone who will drink it.

In my experience most red drinkers will also drink white but few white drinkers will drink red.
I prefer red, but would be happy to recieve either as a gift.
Get good quality though, cheap wine is a false economy.

red wine is usually easier for people to drink; white wine has to be refridgerated and doesn't really go with a vast variety of foods. red wine goes with anything and can really be kept anywhere. plus, i personally prefer red wine
