i still am not quite sure what's going on with the vts either.
we seem to have been recruited as some sort of mafia enforcers...although many of the vts aren't atheists.

There is a desperate need on the part of "True Believers" to have some massive enemy conglomeration oppressing them.
The sense of being persecuted makes the "True Believer" feel important.
