I see a lot of posts on here about atheists being smarter than Christians. I can see why a lot of people have arrived at this conclusion - some religious people do act like morons. But if you take out all the drama with organized religion and just concentrate on believing in God, does that automatically scream "stupid" to you?

Seriously. I'm curious.

I am curious too. I notice that most science questions are specifically addressed to atheists. That must mean that the asker either thinks Christians are intellectually incapable of answering the question or that being able to answer the question inevitably leads to atheism.
Generally I am sure there smart and stupid Christians and smart and stupid atheists. Though as far as capability of using spell checkers on this forum is concerned the atheists win. And I haven't come across a single well reasoned argument for creationism (which is just a subset of Christians). Oh, and there are those Christians who clearly don't know what Christian means (e.g. don't know Catholics are Christians). Though it's sometimes hard to tell who is a troll and who is under 12.

Atheist think they are smarter because they claim to be following the science. However, when you call them into account for producing something scientific they are silent.

Like they want to bug Xmen (Christians) about the Trinity but if you ask them to explain natures trinity of a photon (the nature of light, mass, wave) they are dumbstruck.

or ask them the chemical reactions to the formation of a single cell organism in nature and they can't wikipedia an answer so they'll call you an idiot.

It's really the degree of pride and arrogance and real ignorance about what they really believe. Because Christians can have all the credible degrees and present rational arguments all day long an it won't pry open their minds a bit to think for one moment from a different perspective. Atheists are some of the most closed minded peoples.

I'll let you decide that for yourself after you read the evidence for Creation and God below:

First, I must quote Sherlock Holmes (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) when he said "After you have eliminated the impossible, then whatever is left, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."

Let's start with the origin Darwin's theory.

Darwin used faulty logic with bad science.

Darwin actually believed that the cell was the smallest divisible part of a living being.

He then decided - out of the clear blue - that the "undesignated" cells in the foetus could be "reformatted" as a result of external stimulii that would effectively change a living thing into a new and different form in order to survive the external stimulii. (I'm using very simplified terminology here).

Now, anybody who knows anything at all about logic will tell you that if you start with an erroneous premise, then the conclusion will also be wrong.

As to the makeup of the cell, Darwin was totally unaware of the nucleus, the mitochondria (in which raw materials are converted into usable energy within the cell), proteins and protein synthesis within the cell, or the DNA / RNA.

The "energy cycle" of the mitochondria begins the process of energy conversion by first losing 1 or 2 units of energy, contrary to the laws of thermodynamics.

The DNA is composed of two extremely complex strings of molecules tightly wrapped in a helixical format. The double-strand of DNA unwinds itself, splits into two individual strands, each strand then attracts the necessary molecules to create a mirror image of itself called RNA, then the 2 strands reunite and then coil itself back up into the helix again.

The information encoded within the DNA molecules compose a highly complex data information storage and retrieval system.

Of course, information itself, could never be the results of chaos and random bits.

When compared to a Cray supercomputer, the DNA makes the Cray look like child's play. We realize that the Cray was designed, built, and programmed, and yet we think that the DNA could be thre result of a series of accidents.

Evolution defies both entropy as well as the laws of thermodynamics.

Thus, evolution and atheism is both unscientific and illogical.

Back to my original statement, "After you have eliminated the impossible (ie atheism and evolution), then whatever is left (ie God and Special Creation), no matter how improbable, must be the truth."

Now, you decide if believing in God automatically makes someone stupid, or if it is atheism and evolution that makes someone stupid. ("Professing themselves to be wise, they become fools")

No, I have an Measured IQ of 132 and I believe in god.
Look at the great thinkers of history.
Lock-
Socrates-
Plato-
Jefferson-
Newton-
Einstein-
Desecrate-
Galileo-
Da vinci
etc....
Etc....
They weren't necessarily Christians, but they all believed in a creator of some kind.
Now name a great atheist thinker-
The majority of great thinkers in world history have believed in god. And a good majority of those were a christian of some form.
Let me also say that according to ST. Paul the message of Christ is supposed to sound foolish to most of the people on the earth.
He said it pleased god that since though the wisdom of the world man never new him (they were to busy making neutron bombs and breast implants) that only the faithfull would be saved by the foolishness preached.
Do you realize what this means? It sound silly on purpose.
Jesus Christ had more of an impact on the world than any other person in history and he did it while trying to sound foolish.
That blows my mind.

I was asked this question several years ago and this is how I responded and I think it makes alot of sense. I was told educated people do not believe in God. I believe that same education will take that person straight to hell. And this is why... let's just say I am right and believing and trusting in God gets you into Heaven. What does not believing get you... eternity in Hell. Worst case scenario. No such thing as God and I spend eternity as a fly.... But if there is a God and you chose not to believe....eternity in hell.

It depends on how you define god. If you are using the Christian definition, based on the bible, then i would have to say that believers are more naive than stupid. Since the belief in a supernatural, all knowing creator, that has created a world to just test us, defies all logic, then i would assume that believers in this being were naive..not stupid.

Devils even believe there's one God: James 2:19.
So then 'believers' do about as well as devils do.
The biblical objective is to "know", not to believe.
("believe not": Matthew 24: 23,26 and 1John 4:1)
Know the truth makes you free of believe the lies.

What part of many 'deceivers' did you perhaps miss?
- many shall come...to DECEIVE...shall deceive many.
- Satan has many religious and political "ministers" too.
- person's enemies can even be of their own household.
- false Christs shall arise...to DECEIVE elect if possible.
So the level of deception is way too high to just believe.

Try to see it as if the ultimate matrix to navigate through;
as "allegory": Gal 4, and "mystery", so allegoric mystery;
with the primary goal being our "learning": Romans 15:4.
"Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free".

So you're saved, can you pass holiness with sobriety test?

In end written none perish, but trick is enduring to the end;
and getting there, through all the hurdles, "alive unto God".

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

No. Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin believed in God, and they were in no way intellectual slouches.

Nor were they delusional, for the atheists who like to claim that religious people are such.

It means he has certain emotional needs. Some people are motivated to believe in that stuff, and who are we to say what the motivation is all about, and what his past is and all that stuff.
Moreover, some people are smart but just lack the education.
