2006 Ford Fusion?

Recently purchased this vehicle. When you open the glove box, there is a separate compartmant to the right. Someone referred to it as umbrella holder but hardly deep enough. Have not found description in manual. Could ask dealer but thought I would ask you people first. Does it have a technical name and purpose?

Perhaps it is really for gloves!!

The Ford service manual calls the compartment the "Glove compartment mini-bin", I guess it is for whatever you want to put in it.
