God did. He told them what to say. But He isn't sending anymore prophets. We have the Word of God to live by. The next ones He will send will be the "Two Witnesses" in Revelation.

Prophet or prophetess implies a connection with God and an authority to speak for God to a certain group of people. Popularity had nothing to do with it as many prophets and prophetesses were cast out and or killed for their teachings. Accuracy has a little to do with it, but be careful how you judge, as Jonah (consistently viewed as a prophet) Prophesied a conditional destruction, and because the people met the conditions of repentance, the destruction did not happen.

Many prophets do not even predict things in that sense so much as they teach the Gospel Truth and call the Children of God to repentance. To say that there are no more prophets would be to declare that God no longer cares if His children receive light and truth. He does care, and there are prophets. We need God's word more now than ever before.

A prophet must: Have a claim to authority, teach the Gospel Truth, encourage prayer and spiritual confirmation, and most of all see Galatians in the New Testament. "By their fruits ye shall know them"

Moses' lop-sided one-tooth sister Myriam was a prophetess. I have no idea what the hell she prophesied, I'm just going on what the Bible said.

if a guy says "God says [blank]" and people believe him, he's a prophet. if a guy says "God says [blank]" and people DON'T believe him, he's a nut
