Many wars have been fought because of religion, iraq is the most recent, going back to the jews before christ. I am not trying to h,urt anyone, but some of the greatest minds have been ruined by belives, auther conan doyle, ect. I think the world would be a better place if people got on with it.

It's doesn't matter. It's human nature to fight and have war. Religions just add fuel to the fire :)

Although gov'ts have tried to abolish religion, it never works, they just go underground or evolved to fit into the current gov'ts system.
My religion is a very personal and private comfort to me. I cannot imagine a situation in which I could be forced to no longer believe.
It is kind of like this. If you believe the earth is round and the gov't told you it was a square, would you change your belief? What if you fell in love with someone and yet love was abolished, would it change your emotion?
Sorry this was so long. My answer? Nope!

Man creates religion, so it is man who is the cause of all our problems.
We create organizations that separate us from nature and one another, we are the culprits, religion is yet another avenue for the divide.
Religion shouldn't be abolished, it will change over the years to hardly resemble the current form, but it won't completely disappear.

If they got rid of religion, the religious would go even crazier than they are now. More and more atheists and agnostics are seeing through the religious brainwashing their parents bestowed upon them. These people in turn are raising their children to have knowledge of all religions but not necessarily to worship one. I get the feeling religion will be passe in the next 100 years.

From a speech given by M. Niemoller, a Protestant pastor and social activist, in 1946:
When the Nazis arrested the Communists,
I said nothing; after all, I was not a Communist.
When they locked up the Social Democrats,
I said nothing; after all, I was not a Social Democrat.
When they arrested the trade unionists,
I said nothing; after all, I was not a trade unionist.
When they arrested me, there was no longer anyone who could protest.

Let's see, abolishing religion did such wonderful things for Cambodia under Pol Pot, didn't it?

Many people have died because of it. However - it gives some hope and happiness. You can't take that away.
