I have mixed emotions because of some people not knowing it means girl and boy and thinking it is meant as bows and bells when they hear the name. I intend to put a girl and boy bear dressed like a southern belle and little gentleman on my sign. What do you think???

Its cute but you are right; it does sound like Bows and Bells when pronounced. That would maybe be an issue if you were to advertise it vocally but if you do it via print or writing then you can have the sign which would communicate more.
Though confusion might still occur. Its up to you but I think its adorable:D

I don't think it will be a good idea it could be confusing. You'd be surprised how a name can make or break a business. What was it called before? I do like the idea of trying to say boys and girls differently. Do you have a child? Sometimes asking them what they would name it helps, they usually have the simpliest but the best answers

Most people do know what beaus and belles are. Beaus are male boyfriends and belles are southern girls coming of age.
I would rethink the name of the preschool.

It does sound like bows and bells, which sounds like a sewing shop. My advice is that if you have to question the name of your preschool, the parents would question its quality.

Beaus I strongly think isn't a good idea. That's what a lot of women call their man! Kind of a slang thing I guess. It's too masculine. It kind of sounds like the name of a swingers club. Honestly.

I am a male who likes kids, and am therefore constantly under suspicion.
I can tell you first-hand: there is a lot of sexual abuse hysteria out there.
If you say that children are handsome and beautiful--even if you say it in French, you might be watched every minute.

i think that is really cute...you probably put alot of thought into it so dont get rid of it. just elaborate and write the translation on the bottom of the signs bow and bells

While it is cute, I think it is a little too over the top. You are going to get people not calling you because they can't pronounce your name. I guarantee people are that stupid.
Make it Sunnybrook Preschool or something mindless and easy to pronounce.
