That sore sounds pretty big & the best thing to do is take her to the vet.
My dog has a flea alergy, just 1 bite will set off hot spots. I use frontline but it kills the flea after biting the dog. He doesn't get infested but I have to get a perscription to relieve his skin.
Until I can afford to take him, I shave the irritated area & use cortizone on it. It helps but doesn't solve it like the perscription does.
My parents dog had arthritis, they gave her a garlic pill everyday........nope sorry that was for her horrible gas.......There are foods with ingredients to help keep joints healthly,
check out www.jefferspet.com they are a vet supplier that also sell retail.
Help that poor doggie with her big hot spot

She could have an allergy to flea bites. Please take her to the vet, so they can put a "cone" on her head to keep her from chewing up her leg so it can heal.
