My insurance through my family expires at the end of this year. I am looking for a good health care provider, but I don't want to spend a lot each month.

Any help would be appreciated.

Talk find the best deal, talk to independent health insurance broker. A broker works with several health insurers and can help figure out the best plan, company, rates and coverage for your unique situation. To find a qualified health insurance broker, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com/ and fill out a form requesting a free quote. Your information will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you.

At age 25 chances are that you will not have a lot of need for health care so shop for a policy that has the minimum of "goodies" attached. Get a policy that covers you for the unexpected hospital bill but doesn't cover you for the minor health care costs.

As an example, why pay for prescription coverage when the chances are slim that you will need it? Same thing with low co-pays for doctor's office visits why pay for it if you probably will not need it?

At your age you want a policy that will cover the huge unexpected hospital bill. If you do need a prescription or need to see a doctor you will have saved enough on your monthly premium to pay out of pocket.

Call an independent agent who represents several companies they can help you decide what is the best combination of coverage and premium.

For health insurance, a good plan is going to cost you $250 a month. With health insurance, you get what you pay for.

Ameriplan is NOT insurance. It's a "discount plan". With discount plans, it's a lot cheaper (you get what you pay for), and you might have a really hard time finding a provider that takes it. Plus, half off a $100,000 hospital bill, still leaves you with a $50,000 hospital bill to pay.

I would see if your current doctor accepts an HMO ..get the name and use that one. If you don't have a doctor, see what doctors and hospitals in your area are on a HMO. Humana is good place to start. If your local health providers don't take a HMO..see if they take a PPO..a little more expensive but has more flexibility..again Humana is pretty cheap and very good,,they now have plans that allow you to call in and get medical advice from a nurse at no-charge..they may tell you to go to a doctor but they may tell you what to do or not do..
