I'm in the UK but am interested in all nationalities...I don't know what's normal. My partner thinks I spend too much on our 3 year old generally...but I know for a fact that she does not have as many toys as some kids her age.
I dont want to spoil her...I dont think I will spend over £150.00 this year...partly because we have to pay her school fees too in January. If I had more money though I would happily spend £500.00.....tell me what you plan to spend?

For my toddler, I will probably spend about $50. He's only 19 months. Besides, he will get tons of gifts from family and friends:)

Well we have two kids. A three year old and a 5 month old. Depending on how old they are first of all, you should set a budget. Since our 5 month old isn't really old enough to know what is goind on, we won't be getting her all that much. But when she gets older, we will set a different budget. I say 100-150 dollars total. And yes you can do it. Agree to spend ONLY a certain amount and keep it within that range. I can tell you that only a half an hour ago, I bought gifts online at Walmart.com, and for 7 people (we draw names on each side of the family, plus buy for kids) I spent 90 dollars and that includes shipping. I think that is pretty darn good. You just have to know where to look to get good deal, and if you can do that, the kiddos can have a huge Christmas with hardly any expense. Last year we spent a total on 130.00, and our son have 12 gifts under the tree. Good Luck!!!

I was spoiled rotten as a child and the first couple christmas with my first son I would spend easy $500.00...but now that I see there is no reason to spend that much and we have another son now..we will spend roughly about $200.00 each...exception this year..they are getting a big wooden swing set that we are going in on with the grandparents....So this year about $500.00 on both..Not to bad but I still think that it is a little much seeing as they ar only 4 and 16 months..Next year wil be much different..Growing up I never knew the true meaning of Christmas because I was so rotten about getting all the presents and didnt care about anything but them..Lets face it..kids are greedy if you dont teach them otherwise...I want me boys to know the true meaning of the season and still be thankful for what they have.

I myself think 150.00 would be perfect to spend on a 3 yr old!! I have a 3 month old son and I spend a lot of money on him so I know how u feel!! So if my son is 3 months and he already has a $100 gift under our tree I think u should atleast spend $150 on ur 3 yr old!! Happy holidays!!

My son is 18 months old and spoiled! I buy him all kinds of stuff, but a majority of it is learning toys, flashcards and such. That's what's on the list for this year. I will probably spend 200, give or take. True, he gets all kinds of toys from family- but us parents have to buy toys from 'Santa' too!

Well, I guess it would depend on what you are buying. This year we will be getting my daughter a power wheel so thats about $300 plus some other things. So I would say about $400 to $500.

our son will be 16 months this christmas. we already have all our shopping done. we spent $160 on him, we got him 4 gifts and the biggest gift is a play kitchen.
my parent's spent soo much money on me and my sister when we were little and we end up getting rid of it all anyway and hardly playing with everything so just get a few things that you know for sure will get played with because they won't get used long because they'll grow up so fast.

It varies from year to year. I don't focus much on an exact dollar amount. I will admit that we give our son quite a bit at Christmas; he's an only child, Christmas only comes once a year and he only gets one childhood. Just give your kids what you can afford and what you think is right. They should be grateful for whatever they get. Happy holidays.
