Yet another verse from the Quran taken outa context. The ''Virgins'' which are called Hoor in arabic. No where in teh Quran does it state that they are for men only, infact the gender is not mentioned at all in the Quran nor whether ot not they are for men or women. Islam is totally against Suicide bombing and again no where in the Quran will you fine any qoutes on encouraging muslims to do so.

The prophet said - And whoever commits suicide with piece of iron will be punished with the same piece of iron in the Hell Fire." Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him."

So, did Amir commit suicide and the Prophet praised his "suicidal" action? No. Amir DID NOT commit suicide and the Prophet DID NOT praise suicide. Such are the glaring misrepresentations and lies being spread about Islam!

Also if you kill one person it is as if you have killed the whole of mankind.

1. Hoor mentioned in the Quran
The word hoor occurs in the Qur’an in no less than four different places:
In Surah Dukhan chapter 44, verse 54
“Moreover, We shall join them to companions With beautiful, big and lustrous eyes.” [Al-Quran 44:54]
In Surah Al-Tur chapter 52 verse 20
“...And We shall join them to companions, with beautiful, big and lustrous eyes.” [Al-Quran 52:20]
In Surah Rahman chapter 55 verse 72
“Companions restrained (as to their glances), in goodly pavilions.” [Al-Quran 55:72]
In Surah Al-Waqiah chapter 56 verse 22
“And (there will be) companions with beautiful, big and lustrous eyes.” [Al-Quran 56:22]

2. Meaning of Hoor
The word hoor is actually the plural of ahwar (applicable to man) and of haura (applicable to woman) and signifies a person having eyes characterized by hauar a special quality bestowed upon a good soul, male or female in paradise and it denotes the intense whiteness of the white part of the spiritual eye.

The Quran describes in several other verses that in paradise you will have azwaj which mean a pair or spouse or companion which means you will have spouses or companions pure and holy (mutaharratun means pure, holy).

“But give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is gardens, beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruit there from, they say: “Why, this is what we were fed with before”, for they are given things in similitude; and they have therein companions pure (and holy); and they abide therein (forever)”. [Al-Quran 2:25]

“But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath - their eternal home; therein shall they have companions pure and holy: we shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening”. [Al-Quran 4:57]

Therefore the word hoor has no specific gender. Mohammad Asad has translated the word hoor as spouse and Abdullah Yusuf Ali as companion. Therefore according to some scholars a man in paradise will have a hoor that is a beautiful maiden with beautiful big and lustrous eyes and a woman in paradise will get a man with beautiful big and lustrous eyes.

3. Women will get something exceptional in Paradise
Many scholars say that in context, the word hoor used in the Quran refers only to ladies since gents are addressed. A reply that would be accepted by all types of people would rather be the answer given in the Hadith when a similar question was posed that if a man gets a hoor, a beautiful Maiden in Paradise, then what will the women get? The reply was that the women will get that which the heart has not desired for, the ear hasn’t heard off and the eye hasn’t seen, indicating that even the women will get something exceptional in Paradise.

Hope this gives you a better understanding of Islam and its misconseptions.

Not that I'm an expert but I believe it stems from the Prophet Muhammad saying the minimum of paradise is a list of things containing 72 houri (?) among other delights.

Houri are not just virgins; they are described (in depth -.-') as being physically beautiful. All Muslims can experience this in paradise/afterlife, men and women.

If they can make it to heaven, one of the rewards all Muslims are promised is 72 virgins. The number of virgins is not specified in Koran, it comes from a quotation of Muhammad recorded in one of the lesser known Hadith. ("Hadith" is an Arabic word meaning traditions. After Muhammad's death, several collections of his deeds and sayings were assembled. These collections are called Hadith and form the second most authoritative document is Islam, right after the Koran.)

It derives from a part of the payment made to the original Hashisheen (from where we get the words "Hashish" and "Assassin" ) Whenever they made a successful raid on a town. They were allowed 72 virgins for "recreation" to be taken from the captured slaves. Once the victory celebrations were over the girls were no longer virgins and then released back into the general slave population (assuming they survived).
However it wasnt 72 each, it was more of a shared, group thing

Actualy after 9/11 Islam is being potrayed in a very wrong way just to show the world that muslims are evil, taking things out of contest, highlighting weak sources as a sole body of islam, and many more.just for molesting islam and muslims , and this 72 virgin thing is one of those..and the actualy benefit from all this propaganda is some political gain !Anyways....Loooooooooooong story !

Supposedly when a Muslim martyrs himself for Allah, he is immediately lifted to Heaven and given 72 virgins to spend eternity in a deflowering sexfest.

Because islamic radicals believe that if they're killed for what they believe in, they'll be deemed martyrs and be greeted by 72 virgins when they enter heaven. Hey, I know, it's really stupid, but I'm not the one who writes this garbage.

I think it's the reward to anyone who gave their life in a jihad. Personally don't know why anyone would want 72 virgins. Imagine having THAT talk 72 times.

The bible mentions manytimes to get on thier knees and pray. Also discribes how Jesus used to pray to the Lord and its nothing like they pray now, he prayed more like a Muslim than anyone. Surely he made wadu and taught them. He also said Allahi not God Or Lord, he said Allahi. Al hamdoullah.
