The Bible doesn't go into detail on just how God does create. Evolution could very well be the method. I also believe in Genesis where it states everything was dark and void then God said let there be light that this was indeed an explosion or the beginning of the Big Bang. The Bible does not mention dinosaurs either, but please don't tell me they didn't exist.

First let me distinguish between evolution and natural selection. Natural selection is a proven (and currently observed) natural process by which organisms with certain traits thrive while others become extinct.

Evolution is the notion that unexplainable mutations occur in DNA, resulting in certain desireable traits. How did birds get beaks? How do living cells produce energy? Evolution says it's due to random mutations which it cannot even explain.

Christians can believe in natural selection. They should also believe that God intended all life to exist as it does. Evolution is a myth to replace the truth of Intelligent Design.

you mean the pope isn't a real christian?
There will be millions of people who disagree with you.
Ever heard about parables and teaching stories?

I agree with not watching TV all day, but you should vary your reading matter to broaden it. Maybe include some science books once in a while, hm?

Beliefs sometimes distract one from reality, which we apprehend by knowlege not faith. Evolution as a process is scientific evidence.
Evolutionary theory - which posits that all life can be explained by the process of evolution is one of many theories. Currently, Intelligent design, as a theory has more credibility as an explanation for the origin of life.
But, neither theory needs to impede your christianity if your approach to christianity is not belief (head) centered.
Your Christianity can be grounded in "personal relationship" with the Christ of the gospels and all that He represents - some call this mysticism or the innercore of religion. The dogmas and creeds (beliefs) of a religion are not as important as its inner meaning and inner dimensions.
Let Christ reign in your innerman (soul/heart) even as you continue to grow intellectually.
Even an atheist can be Christlike in their attitudes (innercore) and that's the only christianity that matters to Christ.....what's in your heart.....not your head.

I'm an atheist, but I don't see a problem between being a real Christian and believing in evolution. Christians aren't required to believe in the literal truth of the Bible.

I'm sure there are plenty of real Christians who read Genesis as a metaphor but still believe in Christ and God.

Well, you can have a more mature interpretation of the scripture. It contains subtext and metaphor, and many of the events are obviously not literal. Add in the opposing traditions contained within it that contradict each other (the creation stories being the first of these) and it's easy to see that creation is a metaphor.

If you ask a question like this, you obviously expect only one answer. Is there room in your world for an answer like 'Easily: by the grace of God, and by understanding what science is.' ?

And what has TV and garbage got to do with it?

By interpreting the Bible as a guideline comprised of metaphor and allegory, combined with sporiadic historical accuracy, instead of an absolute. By being aware that it has been so reshaped by man that any inherant truth is long since gone and seeking the deeper meaning behind it.
Something like that I imagine.....

I spend an hour with my Bible daily. I also spend time reading science, theology, and politics. You do not persuade others through insults.
