the "technology" costs alot of money, so does auditing.
To the poster above auditing is not like a "hypnosis", it is compared to a "therapy" session, where you get to the root of the problem and handle it right there and then, so it does not cause you stress in the future.

How can R E homework include "what are the bad points about scientology?". Was it supposed to be "research scientology" and you turned it?
Anyway, ZC is the expert on bad points of it. And be sure to include the South Park cartoon also. Both are great sources for that viewpoint.
I agree that the hypnosis thing seems off target. From the outside reading in it seems more like its catholic confession with an added piece of equipment for acknowledgement (to both the speaker and the listener). Id compare it more to "positive feedback". But thats not a scientologist talking.

1. You are expected to give them bucketloads of money. Wayyy more than most major religions. They charge for everything. If you work for them, they don't pay you enough to live on, unless you're a big-time celebrity. Oh yeah, and they go after celebrities in a big way.
2. You are brainwashed - they call it "auditing".
3. You are never left alone - they will call you, email you, stop by your house, whatever, to make sure you are still with them, and not planning to make an escape. They will bombard you with propaganda about this "religion".
4. They don't believe in psychiatry, which has helped millions of people stop their suffering, and saved many lives. They base these beliefs on outdated psychiatric practices used in poorly run State hospitals back in the 50's.
5. They believe in "silent birth". The woman must not make a sound.
6. They expect you to go out and recruit more Scientologists before you're even sure you believe in it yourself.
7. They make you carry a little dictionary around, because they think that every time you yawn, it's because you didn't understand a word spoken. They don't believe that sometimes, stuff is just really BORING!!!
8. The higher you go in the process, they more weird, creepy stuff they cram into your brain. The worst? That we are possessed by little aliens called "body thetans" who possess our brains and give us evil thoughts. This is what "auditing" is supposed to get rid of. They also think that an alien called "Xenu" conquered earth, with the help of evil psychiatrists, millions of years ago. Psychiatrists didn't even exist millions of years ago! I don't think the phrase was even used until the 19th century.
9. Their founder, L. Ron Hubbard, said once that it would be a good idea to invent a religion, because you could make lots of money. He used to write science fiction for a living, but didn't like the pay. He wanted bigger things.
10. They tell you you can be a Christian, Jew or Buddhist and still be a Scientologist. Not true! They eventually will tell you that Jesus, Moses, and Buddha were illusions imprinted on our brains by Xenu, and that they never existed at all.

Bad points of scientology is
1) L .Ron Hubbard did not discover any of it. He just researched it and rewrote it and claimed it. That is what makes it dangerous , that there is some truth to it but mixed with a lot of lies. They sucker you into it with the truth and trap you with lies.
2)They use anything you say against you, so anything you divulge in counseling will not be private.
3) The one thing they do, is use everything you learn against you(current scientologist: read everything on sp and anti-socials because that is what "the church" is doing to you)
I don't know if lrh was really insane or he was just testing peoiple , dangerous either way

Im guessing you mean the Church of Scientology. Most of the answers are about the church side. The scientology stuff I found very useful but the church side has some quirks.
They are available seperately in many places

Scientology is a cult started by Sci-Fiction writer and occult enthusiast L. Ron Hubbard, who was at one time an associate of Aleister Crowley. They use a system called auditing on their members, which is really just hypnosis.

1: It's based on the drivellings of a third rate sci-fi writer.
2: It exists purely to scam people out of their money.
3: The claims it makes are so obscenely ridiculous that fundamentalist Christianity looks sane in comparison
4: It's a very controlling cult.

well one bad point is That it costs way to much to be a member you should never have to pay to be part of a religion. The only good point I can see in Scientology is that it is really a lifestyle and not so much a religion they believe that you can believe in what you believe in...... ie.....Christianity, Buddhism, muslim,.....ect....ect..... just incorporate their beliefs into it.
