When did they EVER care about the truth? Self-serving is a much more definitive adjective I would think.

In what way? Everything you fundies say about the Church is a lie. Therefore, it would follow that if anyone has given up the truth in exchange for maliciousness and fantasy, it would be you people. You're in for a big surprise when you first meet the Almighty.
