I was on it a couple of years ago, and I couldn't take it, it would make me completely lethargic to the point where I couldn't even move. I stopped taking it after like a week or two, but now I have to go to an outpatient facility and I'm afraid they're going to give it to me again, or something similar. Is it supposed to do that to you? My doctor never officially diagnosed me when I went a couple of years ago, so I don't know what the reason for giving me Abilify could be. I really don't want to take it, but I want to be cooperative with the facility, as it will affect my job. Any advice? Thanks!

I take 30 mg of Abilify a day. I had the same side effects you described for the first few weeks but then, when my dosage was raised, the side effects went away. I'm fine now. There are other anti-psychotics out there that you can try. No one can force you to take Abilify if you don't want it!

I was given it when I left the hospital. I didn't understand either, because I never was psychotic. I would have been lethargic anyway. It's powerful stuff. It works well for bi-polar and schizophrenia, but nothing else. You can go, but still refuse to take Abilify. You have the right to especially if they don't tell you why you have to take it. They should have told you your rights.

it probably has to do with how much of it you take. I'm on 15 mg.s of abilify per day and i have no side effects. i was previously on risperdahl, and had sleepiness and weight gain with it, so i was glad when my insurance finally agreed to abilify.

abilify had the opposite effect on me..if you are afraid they will give it to you agian and you don't want it just tell them you had a bad reaction to last time and that they need to try something else..they do listen to you on that

Well, it is supposedly prescribed for schizophrenia and bi polar disorder. If you had bad effects with it in the past, explain that to your doctor when you see him and ask if there is something else you could take instead.
