I know that it's less than insured patients, but how much less and why?

For any procedure. If the visit costs $500, what percent would the govt pay? Hence, the doctors lost the other end of the percentage for seeing the patient.

The amount a doctor is paid, depends on the service provided. Yes, its true, Medicaid pays less than private or group health insurance. A lot less. You'd have to be more specific to get actual #s.
Why?!?!? Because our taxes fund it.

In New York, Medicaid pays roughly an average of 40% less than private insurance. Possibly because there's so many blights of society sucking the system dry and getting a free ride on my dime. (Don't get me wrong, I truly believe that if someone has a true need for it should get it, but if you can afford a $70,000 SUV and/or can hire a cleaning woman for your home, you should NOT be allowed to ride on my back. And don't think THAT doesn't happen!)
