First of all all of the cruise lines have programs that cater to kids ages 2 through 17. They divide the kids into age groups like 2 to 5 and 6 through 8 or 9 and 12 through 17. Then they have a staff person or two who are professionally trained to develop activities for the kids and supervise them in the activities. Most ships have special places that are for kids to do these activities.

There is not really any difference between what adults and seniors like to do on cruise ships and what the ships plan for them. There are of course the casinos, the evening shows and late night shows in some cases. then there are various lounges and bars that play different types of music for the different preferences. On our last cruise there was "big Band" music played in the lounge each evening for those age 50 and over who wanted to attend and dance the way folks did 40 to 50 year ago. Some younger folks came and danced too. Then there was a disco that started at about 10:00 PM and adults of all ages attended.

There were also on our last cruise a couple days when a professor was on board giving a lecture about the next port of call and persons of all ages attended.

There is generally enough variety of activities on cruises for everyone to have something to do on ship. lots of people play board games, use the internet, or just sit and read.
