I am looking for a recipe for this traditional dish...I used to have the recipe and lost it. It has a different twist on it. It contains either sour cream or cream cheese and also cheddar cheese in it. Can anyone give me a recipe like this or similar to this?

"Green Bean Casserole"

Ingredients-
1 (16 ounce) can green beans, drained
1 (14 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
2 (10.75 ounce) cans cream of celery soup, undiluted
1 onion, chopped
2 cups coarsely crushed buttery round crackers
1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
2 tablespoons margarine, melted

Preparations-
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Combine the green beans and corn in the bottom of a 9 inch square baking dish. Pour soup over the vegetables, and top with chopped onion. In a small bowl, stir together the crackers, garlic powder and margarine until cracker crumbs are coated. Spread over the top of the casserole.
Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until the sauce is thick and the top is browned.

I don't care much for Thanksgiving, but that green bean casserole makes it all worthwhile. Can you disown your family or somethin'? Tip: My great-great-grandmother always googled "green bean casserole" before committing herself to the task. There were fewer cooking sites in 1874, but she made do.

This is the classic version and includes the cheddar cheese variation....

Green Bean Casserole

From: Campbell's Kitchen
Prep: 10 minutes
Bake: 30 minutes

1/2 cup milk
1 tsp. soy sauce
Dash ground black pepper
4 cups cooked cut green beans
1 1/3 cups French's® French Fried Onions

Directions:

MIX soup, milk, soy, black pepper, beans and 2/3 cup onions in 1 1/2-qt. casserole.

BAKE at 350°F. for 25 min. or until hot.

STIR . Sprinkle with remaining onions. Bake 5 min.

TIP: Use 1 bag (16 to 20 oz.) frozen green beans, 2 pkg. (9 oz. each) frozen green beans, 2 cans (about 16 oz. each) green beans or about 1 1/2 lb. fresh green beans for this recipe.

For a change of pace, substitute 4 cups cooked broccoli flowerets for the green beans.

For a creative twist, stir in 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese with soup. Omit soy sauce. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup additional Cheddar cheese when adding the remaining onions.

For a festive touch, stir in 1/4 cup chopped red pepper with soup.

For a heartier mushroom flavor, substitute Campbell's® Condensed Golden Mushroom Soup for Cream of Mushroom Soup. Omit soy sauce. Stir in 1/4 cup chopped red pepper with green beans.

Here's another recipe with the cheese and sour cream:

Green Beans Supreme

INGREDIENTS:
1 pound fresh green beans, cut French-style or 1 pound French-style frozen green beans
1 small onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (or use 1 teaspoon dried)
3 tablespoons butter, divided
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel
1/2 teaspoon salt
dash of pepper
1/2 cup milk
1 cup reduced fat sour cream
1/2 cup shredded mild Cheddar or American cheese
1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs

PREPARATION:
Cook fresh cut beans until just crisp-tender, or cook frozen beans according to package directions; drain. Cook onion and parsley in 2 tablespoons of butter until onion is tender. Blend in flour, lemon peel, salt, and pepper.

Add milk; cook until thickened and bubbly, stirring constantly. Stir hot mixture into sour cream and cooked beans; heat until sauce begins to bubble. Spoon into a 1- to 1 1/2-quart casserole; sprinkle cheese over the top. Melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter; toss with bread crumbs and sprinkle over cheese. Broil about five inches from broiler until cheese melts and crumbs brown, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Serves 8 as a side dish.

(you could use the can of fried onions instead of bread crumbs, if you prefer)

Will depend on on the context really. Which is better as a snack - fruits personally. It's tastier and gives you that little bit of sweetness. Which can be better as a snack if you are trying hard to minimize back on sugar and lose weight vegetables
