In the ten commandments, the commandment on idolatry says that "I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God". The last commandment says not to covet or be envious of anything your neighbor has. Isn't that a little hypocritical?

It seems that u know not the difference between being jealous and beaing envious. Being envious means that i wish that u lose the good thing u have which i dont have.
Being jealous means that i wish i have the good thing u have , without wishing u lose it.

Good Luck!!

God is jealous in that he doesn't want us worshipping any other but him. He doesn't want us being jealous over the little things of this world because in the end they mean nothing.

And exactly WHO is Joe Hovah jealous of, since he later goes on to claim that all other gods are false ones?

It's just psychotic to be jealous of imaginary people....

God created us. We owe Him our love. It is not hypocritical for God to expect this love and feel upset when we do not give it freely to Him.

Wouldn't we be upset if we found out that God loves something more than us, His greatest creation?

well that's not the "jealousy we know today" God is referring that if we are his creation, we should praise him only" God does not want you to follow other idols!
