Oh my god this sounds so much like me.I think this is someone being so careful and guarded with their emotions and might I add ,a bit jaded and skeptical. To me this is about being in control totally. I really don't know how wise that really is because sometimes we just have to allow ourselves to be a little vulnerable....Why didn't take my own advice. Darn!

A wise girl maintains control of her situation by being careful about who she loves and why and she doesn't let lust ( hers or his) get in the way.
A wise girl knows that actions speak louder than words so she listens carefully and observes silently, then checks her facts before accepting a statement as truth.
A wise girl can sense the end of a relationship because of clues her partner sends out and since she is careful and a listener, she knows when it's wisest to cut her losses and get on with her life rather than letting anyone else control her destiny.
It isn't about heartbreak or betrayal etc, it's about pragmatic thinking.

Kisses but doesn't love -- that is, she enjoys the acts of love, but doesn't actually emotionally invest in the guy, because she'll end up with a broken heart.
Listens, but doesn't believe -- listen to what he says, but doesn't believe what he says. (I don't know how to make that simpler.)
And Leaves before she is left, again, implying that heartbreak is the expected outcome of romantic relationships.
I had no idea she was such a cynic!

To me it means that you know when a kiss is just that... you know the difference between love and lust and that lust does not equate love. Be open to listening, but don't believe everything you hear... You have to know that everything isn't as it "seems." And, leave before left... means if you know in your heart things aren't right... just leave. Don't try and hold on... because if it isn't right they will leave you, first and that will hurt more.

It simply means that she had lost trust on people after being cheated on repeatedly. It means that it is wise not to fall in love with anyone you get physical with (make out with), not to believe everything that's told to you to impress/attract you and that if you know that a relationship is not going to work out, end it before they break your heart and leave you.

it basically means that if u don't put ur whole heart into things, nd u won't get hurt....
don't get attached or committed to anything, and you'll be fine.
