you need to be like a second mom to the kids. But most of all you need to LOVE kids, know what to do if they get hurt, know the soulution to EVERY SINGLE PROBLEM that may arise (ex: my booger ran away) silly stuff like that. Dont yell at them, dont give too many time outs.
I remember my kindergarten teacher she was terrible. Try to remember your kindergarten teacher.....was she good or was she bad, think of what qualities she had Good ones: remember these and use them Bad ones: do the opposite or find a better soulution.

You must have the patience of the saints which is top on the list, you must love the children as your own, be creative, fun to be with, attentive, alert, you must know that each child is unique hence you must try to really know each child to be an effective teacher. You must also have the special skill of dealing with overprotective as well as overbearing parents. And of course you must be knowledgeable on what you're teaching.

Extreme patience- you have to be able to tolerate their high energy levels
Imagination and creativity- to be able to answer the hundreds of thousands of questions they ask you, and the stories they demand of you (and you should be patient enough to answer every one of those questions)
To be firm but gentle- most times they take advantage of you and cry to get your attention or to get you to do something, in that scenario- you have to learn to be firm without shouting at them or being curt with them- be stern, don't melt when they give their puppy dog/sad faces.
And of course you should also be highly energetic to be able to deal with a class of pre-school/kindergarten kids and not go insane.
Be sure to have a lot of tricks up your sleeve to keep them distracted. And don't under any circumstances look harassed... they catch on to that immeditely and that will be the death of you... :D
But most importantly, love them for what they are and have fun with them!

A good teacher should be great at communicating to the parents.
In preschool & Kindegarten, parents are still thinking of their children as little ones & still want to be a big part in their children's lives.
Communicate small things to them & you will be the best teacher around!!

patience would be number one, you need to be able to communicate to young children in a way they could understand you, you also need to be firm and be able to multitask at the same time, consistancy is big with children it makes them feel safe with you and will bring order to the classroom, you also haveto be able to deal with difficult people(parents), also you should have good organizational skills
