My 63 lb 4 month old Newfoundland puppy at half of my pb&j and grape jelly sandwich today because he has been REALLY naughty lately...Is it okay that he ate the grape jelly?

Thank you so much to the people who answered/answer this question...Onyx means the world to me and I was so scarred I almost cried! ...He's been naughty since we took in a stray kitty we found last week!

Okay, question my "parenting skills" but it was an accident...I was still in the room, he jumped up real quick and grabbed it! *Thank you to the people who actually understand how dogs get =)

He will be just fine, no worries. There is very little grape in grape jelly, lucky for him! I am sure he just loved that snack! Is he a counter surfer like my Newfoundland? :)
ADD: I completely understand, you have to know Newfoundlands to understand this situation! They are a wonderful breed, but they like to push your buttons! I always tell people you have to have a sense of humor when you own Newfs! They are pranksters!!
Enjoy Onxy... he is going to grow up so fast! My Newf is 16 months and well over 130 lbs. Relax, take a deep breath, Onxy is going to be just fine.

I'm sure he'll be fine. I did read though that dogs shouldn't eat the actual grapes. I forgot why. Like one writer said, there are only a small amount of actual grapes in grape jelly. Don't worry.

I understand things happen, yes it could be worse, but now you know not to leave things out where your pup can get them, your dog at the worse could get,...diarrhea, so a few extra potty trips out side would be a good idea. Your dog will be fine. If in doubt call your vet.

As long as there are no grape seeds in the jelly your dog should be just fine.

It's not going to hurt him.
It's not really ' parenting skills ' it would be dog ownership skills that you are working on. You have to remember dogs are not little furry kids. They love being dogs, hate being furry little kids.. Makes them all neurotic and messed up!

he may get sick from all the sugar plus the yeast in the bread dough. in the future, keep in mind that it's your job to keep things he isn't supposed to have out of his reach - not his job to figure out what's ok and what's not (that's expecting too much, especially at his age). next time, he may ingest something truly poisonous - then what? blame it on the dog because he's been "naughty"? hope he's ok.

No problems other than it might make him nauseated or have diarrhea. Probably not though.
