Can you wear shoes after getting a tattoo on your foot? Obviously its better not to wear shoes after a foot tattoo but not very practical. Ive been told that if you put cream and plastic over it will be fine. Is this true? Do you know of a better way to protect it?

I have both feet tattooed. I just tried not to wear shoes. But it's unavoidable if you work. Don't put plastic over it or it wont be able to breath, thus take longer to heal.

Just try not to wear shoes, take them off whenever you can and wear them lose.

If in doubt, call your artist.

It's not the best idea to wear shoes right afterwards, but if you have to, try to wear looser shoes... like ugg boots or something. Or loosen the laces on your sneakers. And yes, use cream with plastic over it. Remember, it's an open wound until it heals... you don't want it to be in contact with the inside of your shoes.

Only wear them when you have to, and change out of them as soon as you get home. You don't want to irritate the skin or cause an infection.

As for after it heals, make sure you lotion it frequently and when in the sun! My foot tattoo has faded quite a lot because of rubbing against my sneaks all the time. Now I lotion it to bring back some of the shine, and it looks good... but not as awesome as when I first got it.

Go with along the top. Foot tattoos are hard enough to heal, and the sides usually fade and need to be touched up quite a bit from rubbing on your shoe. The top will be the same, but it's easier to find shoes that have no tops for healing times.

Hmm...I would strongly suggest not to wear shoes or socks. It's not advisable to shrink wrap (plastic) your foot. Your tattoo needs to breathe and wrapping it isn't gonna help with the healing process.

You could wear sandals instead. There are some very nice sandals in the market which can be worn with jeans. Or you could wear a pair of Crocs. They go with jeans and pants too.

Lastly, remember to apply a good amount of cream througout the day till your tattoo completely heals. The foot area tends to have the dryest of skin.

I hope the above helps.

Just keep it clean and bandaged. It'll be all good. And before you get it done, practice walking and putting more pressure on the tips of your toes. You'll probably end up walking that way a few days afterward. I've got "Made In China" on the bottom of my left foot! lol! Trust me, get some comfy shoes, and practice your walking first!

Got one on my foot, if you want it get it, I love mine, but it is a huge commitment, the ink doesn't like the foot and comes out easily, especially the further down you go, mine is on the inside and I am about to have to go to for my third touch-up as right at the bottom no matter how I carefull I am some of the ink still comes out and each time I go back it has to go deeper, so is more painfull. My tattoist is really good and has a great rep so I know it isn't him. I would do it all again for mine, but know that you are probably going to have to go back for touch-ups and it is very painfull. One of my friends has a similiar one and it is all blotchy because she doesn't want to go and get it touched up.

when you get your foot tatooed you SHOULD NOT wear shoes at all for 2 weeks. the only shoes you should wear are flipflops. no socks either. it is very important for the healing process to keep it uncovered at all times and to keep it from being irritated by anything touching and rubbing it. feet are harder to heal because they are so far from the heart, the circulatory system doens't pump blood to your feet as efficiently as the rest of the body so you it very important for you to do everything right or your foot tattoo can and likely will turn out to be total crap.
also when i got my feet tattooed i kept them elevated as much as possible for the first few days and tried to stay off of my feet to reduce the swelling.

depends on the placement for the pain. One, a butterfly at the top of my foot, was quite painful and I couldn't wear a shoe for 2 weeks.
second one, tribal from big toe to where the top of ur foot meets ur leg? No pain and no problem...
