No, Don Quijote, it is not difficult. It is very easy.

It is what english speakers do all the time.

Since they eliminated the form "thou" from common english, now the "you" is used when you talk with several people, when you talk with your son, and when you talk with your boss.

THAT is very confusing !

Usted - formal
Tu - casual
