yeah its possible. I've been in one for 4 years (have like 3 more years before we can get married and move in together). He lives in Germany and i live in California (USA). Make sure you are not moving too fast so just make sure that you two are ready. Its great that you will be together soon. Our cultures are a bit different too but we get along fine (german and mexican-american). Good luck, let me know if you have anymore questions. you can email me :)
Hey Breezer, looks like we both have German guys ^^. Congrats on being married. My bf lives in Berlin.

If you have never met then most probably this won't work. People who meet regularly do not have a guarantee for a lasting relationship, when it is long distance it's worse. It's very easy for people to make up things, pretend, etc, in order to appear in the best shape online. Real life is very different. Both of you need to invest a lot of time to know each other, each other's family, friends, interests, life goals etc so that you really know whether you are good for each other. Also it would help to ask for advice of family and friends, believe me! :)

It is possible but not easy! It depends on both your effort and patience. You need to strive to communicate as often as possible so you don't feel so distanced from her. You also need to be patient and remember the old cliche "good things come to those who wait". It isn't easy to be away from someone you love so much, but if it is neccessary, you will learn to deal. How about a web cam to keep you feeling close to her? Email, phone calls, even the old fashioned hand written letter will help the time pass quicker. The summer isn't that far from now, hang in!

I´m an American. I met my German husband on a plane in Frankfurt-I was on vacation via Spain, and he was on a business trip.
We dated long distance for a year, were engaged for 2, and married this past May in Las Vegas and now live in Bavaria and are so happy-it great seeing each other every day.
Here´s how to make it last long distance...CALL EACH OTHER EVERY SINGLE DAY. You don´t have to have a long conversation, but at least hear each others voice. E-mailing doesn´t count-call.
Best wishes to you both. It does work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our son has been dating long distance for months with a girl from Singapore. He is planning on a trip there soon to meet her. She happens to be a friend of one of my son's neighbor, whom he met and married that way, a few years ago, and they are very happy.
Be careful, though...He was writing to several girls in Russia, but eventually their replies were almost identical...like a script!

Relationships last even when people don't.
Relationship can work only if partners want it to work. I am sure you guys know each other well else why wud you guys think of marrying.

yes it is possible. but you should move closer if you are going to get married. i believe you should at least live in the same city, if not together, before you make the jump. also wouldn't it be a good idea to go to marriage counseling before you tie yourselves down?
