The bible says that he stretches out the heavens like a tent. we know the age of the universe now thanks to that nasa probe that sent back pictures. We are now within a million years of knowing the age of the universe. pretty good for some carbon based monkeys. yeah! happened faster than light. Is that possible?

tent and curtain are interchangeable.
the universe is 13.7 billion years old. I was meaning to say that we are within a million years of accuracy.

Psalm 104:2,3
Who coverest htyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who makes the clouds his chariot; who walks upon the wings of the wind.

Psalm 26:7
He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangs the earth upon nothing.

Isaiah 40;22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in

Isaiah 40:26
Lift up your eyes on high and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is srong in power; not one faileth.

Isaiah 44:24
Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the Lord that maketh all things: that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroard the earth by myself;

If God continually stretches the heavens as curtains how will you ever know the age of the universe? This sounds like an ongoing process that God is doing. Not past, but present.

The bible says if you believe there is no God then you are a fool. How could you be such a fool to believe that all of this was created out of random chance? How could you be such a fool to believe that evolution is occuring?

In a general sense evolution is a force that is progressing forward? How could you be such a fool to believe that random acts are progressing forward?

You should make your questions a little bit more clear

Edit: I suppose it could be either one but the thing that a lot of people don't realize is that scientific evidence is just not the primary mode that God has chosen to use to call people to himself. I definately think it is a useful endeavor and absolutely has its place but the thing about the bible is that it is a book of faith. Science and like-sciences, are modes to obtain information usually of a non-sacred nature. The bible wasn't written to reveal mathematical codes and formulas or records of animals. Not to say that some of those things aren't included or implied but just as God spoke to the prophets of old, who wrote about how one might come to know God, recieve eternal life and how to walk with him and love him, God speaks through the same writings of the bible today - not through scientific fact (which some of it can be as unstable as a house built with a foundation of sand). This is not to say that it has never happened before. I can think of a few christians who have come to know God because of science, but God has provided a much more stable way to believe in him.

Science as we know it is relatively new to us, and still we are continually changing its modes, methods and procedures and coming up with many different answers. The bible was written over a period of 6,000+ years and its uniquely intrinsic message, remains unchanged, uncontradicted, and historically flawless to this day. If you ask me, to base one's faith on science is more risky than basing one's faith on the scriptures, which biblically speaking, is the only way you can really come to a saving knowledge of God. Science may prove the existance of God one day, but even that will not suffice. The bible says even the demons of hell believe in God. Science will never teach you about God, who he is, who we really are, what this life is really about and how we can be saved. The sure way to know how to be saved is through christ, of whom the scriptures written millenia ago teach. If not to teach one how to know God, then for what other purpose was the bible written for?

If you take away the bible you have no christianity. It remains to be the primary mode God chooses to communicate with us. If you really think about it, faith that is based on mere intellectual/knowledgeable facts isn't faith at all. The bible makes it clear that one's faith should be based solely on him, and the way one can come to know him is through the writings of the bible.
