Usually with a temperature drop below 99 degrees pups will come within 24 hours.

If this was *my* b*tch I would take her to the vet for an x-ray to determine number of pups and degree of calcification (a good reproductive vet can tell you how close to whelping they are by the bone development). This would also reassure me that all is well (glassy eyes would be of concern to me).

My dogs ate until they actually started whelping... and then they ate the placentas.

For KitKat: While average state 63 days, it is only that, an average. My very first litter of pups was whelped on day 59. The b*tch subsequently whelped litters on day 60 and day 67 (she had a bladder infection that was being treated the last time). I've NEVER had a litter whelp on day 63... most of mine have gone to 60 or 61. It is always best to be prepared. To tell someone "She isn't due for 5 days" is irresponsible.

I would not go to work... her drop in temp means most likely within 24 hours she will have her pups. Keep an eye on her...good luck with the babies

edit

the average is 58-63 days not 63 days... Our girls usually go on day 60... I know some that wait until 65 and have seen 1 that ALWAYS had her on day 56 which is scary for the pups.... so watch her...she could go at anytime...some do not stop eating...some do not just lay around... sometimes the nesting does not start until labor is really going...

Your pet could possibly be going into labor. If she appears to be having a big litter,I find they will deliver early.Just keep an eye on her and prepare her a large pasteboard box lined with newspaper. When her labor begind ,she will start tearing the paper and scratching around in the box.As she begins to start pushing with each contraction, she should deliver a pup within 45 minutes to 1 hr.If no pup is expelled after this time, you will need to call a vet,as pup may be lodged and she will require a C-section.If pup is expelled just note that she begins cleaning head area first, and if she doesn't you must tear bag of fluid away from head ,or pup will drown within seconds, then let the new Mom finish cleaning the pup.Good luck with your new litter.

Recheck it 12 hours from the 99.1 reading if it is the same then she could go from 12-24 hours but the temp drop is not always a sure sign

more than likely it will be a day or more. Teh general rule is after teh temp goes below 99 then it will be 24-48 hours.
The only way to be pretty sure is take her to the vets and have a check up.
She isn't due for 5 days they usually carry 63 days .Some have before 60 days but I have found that not to be very common.
In most cases if she is still eating and following you around and not staying in her box it will be a little while longer.
Again the besst is to either take the rest of the week off or go to the vets. Dogs can surprise you.
I just had one that was playing, eating and running around crazy. Her temp never went below 99.2 and 2 hours later she delivered. She was 61 days

Yeah I would prolly get er checked out by a vet to make sure the pregnancy is going well, and nothing wierd goin on.Or to see if she is goin into labor,But its perfectly normal not to know what to expect.Every times different,so dont think your a bad pet owner for not knowing whats goin on.Just stay home, call a local vet, make an appointment, get er checked out.Good luck:]

do the following:
take her to her vet to be checked out....if you don't know if she is in labor then you won't know what to do if something goes wrong when she has them
secondly, DO NOT BREED HER ANYMORE, it can cause serious damage to her to be bred as much as well as increase her risk for breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

Do you love her?
take her to the vet then spay her (or if it is too risky at her age, ect....stop breeding her!)
I am not trying to be rude but if you don't know how to breed her you shouldn't do it....it could cost her her life just bc you aren't sure how to do it.

PLEASE take her to the vet, and let you work know you may not be in tonight!

Please, take your canines into the Vet and permit her have her puppies there or enable them to do a C-area just to get it over with. You needless to say comprehend surely nada approximately whelping of puppies and in the journey that your lady have been given into hassle you does not recognize it until she or the puppies died. do not possibility your lady any greater, take her to the Vet and admit to them you do not understand something approximately 'birthin' no toddlers'....... Please, circulate away this to the pros and have your lady spayed. She can not circulate via this each 6 months or so and you have not have been given adequate training on the duplicate of canines to avert it. further: maximum Vets do have an answering service and additionally, maximum do open at 8 AM so call the answering service and enable them to comprehend which you have a woman in hard artwork and hassle and which you will meet the Vet on the medical institution.
