I got a #15 Michael Waltrip tire that he ran in California a few years back. I bought it a couple weeks after the race at the Busch race in St. Louis at Gateway International Raceway. It was only $20, and the uses are endless for it. Mine is the base to my NASCAR collection. A friend of mine placed a glass top on a Carl Edwards tire and uses it as a night stand. All it takes is a little imagination to come up with something truly unique.

Ken Schrader once joked that he has plenty at his race shop to give away. If you wait until after a race - whether stock cars or open-wheel - you may be able to get a tire or two, if you care to wait around for some time and can access the pits. Also, the race shops are the best place to get used tires or other parts. I have one such unique item in my collection; lug nuts off the #43.

I have raced used lugs and spark plugs from the #43. Used to own some sheet metal but had to part with when bought a new house. Used to have a hood from Rodney Combs #43 Petty Enterprises Busch Series car sponsored by Lance Snacks.

You used to be able to get them from teams who didn't need them after the race. I've got one of Mark Martin's old tires from Rockingham.
You can't do that anymore since teams don't buy tires anymore and instead lease them from Goodyear. They have to return all the tires after the race.
There are other ways to get tires though, if a track near you does the Richard Petty driving experience, they will often sell the used tires from that.
