The bible says it is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to go to Heaven, and the precious metals in your computer, in Jesus' day, would have been sufficient wealth to buy a small third world nation, to say nothing of the gemstone flecks in your junk jewelry, the metals in your sandwich coins--What's in your wardrobe? Silk?Satin? Lace? Leather? How many different outfits? Most people in Jesus time had at the most two T-tunics and they were hand woven, the consistency of burlap, and hand stitched together with hand spun thread--by God's standards we ALL live at a level of excess that mandates waste while children are starving in New York--Is that needle's eye looking a little tight yet? perhaps it's your new jeans that you had to buy because you put on ten pounds BEFORE thanksgiving....Just a thought...

Thank You for Your Harrassment and Thumbs Down as Well...You Misinterpret Scripture too....Have you ever heard of Salvation and Grace? You are saved by the Grace and Mercy of Christ...

Try this On Proverbs 3:27 If you are rich "...Withold Not Good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the Power of Thine Hand to do it..." and also Deuteronomy 24:14, Proverbs 22:22, Amos 4:1, Zechariah 7:10, James 2:6..If you can manage that a Rich man Can get through the eye of a needle! Having No mercy on those with less than yourself, Selfishness and Greed is what keeps them out of God's Kingdom! Jesus was a Carpenter and Had rich friends!

As reported above it truly is the affection of money. M't:19:20: The youthful guy saith unto him, those form of issues have I saved from my adolescents up: what lack I yet? M't:19:21: Jesus mentioned unto him, If thou wilt be suitable, pass and sell that thou hast, and supply to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and are available and stick to me. M't:19:22: yet while the greater youthful guy heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had large possessions. M't:19:23: Then mentioned Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a wealthy guy shall not often enter into the dominion of heaven.

With all due respect, sister, the bible says a lot of things, most of wich people misinterpret. I think that in this time in age, owning a computer is a tremendous need for many reasons....school, work, communication. Take for instance, myself....I am overseas and I communicate with my family via email and messenger. If it weren't for technology and owning a computer, I'd have to wait around for letters to get home, and then to receive them here, in the desert. I think as long as we do well on to others, respect eachother, take care of our children, and live our lives without trying to mess anyone else's life up....we will can go to heaven.

There is no such thing as too rich to go to heaven. The eye of a needle was a small door in a cities wall. When the main gate was shut there was no other way to get in. It was incredibly hard, but not impossible to get a camel to craw through this small door. I think stewardship is the key to this question.

Rich is relative to the time we all live in. Salt used to be worth more than gold?!?
The quote that you are referring to in the bible refers to the sin of Gluttony.
If you do only unto yourself with neglect to others around you and you do unto yourself to excess then that is a sin.
Otherwise if what you say is true and it doesn't matter what time we are living in then we are all going to Hell. Maybe we are anyway but I have faith in god and try to do my best and believe that through Jesus Christ our Lord I and my family will get to Heaven.
God Bless you and give you the strength to do the right thing.
Happy thanksgiving.

Respectfully sister there should be no financial restrictions to getting into heaven, if in fact there is such a place. It is what you do with your life, how you treat other people, how you spend the money you earn, being a good human being, these are the things that should be important to us all, some of the most "religious" people I know are not very decent people. Who goes and who stays?

And a good thought too!
As you stated many times "In the time of Jesus" and that was then, when there was nothing more. I guess the defination of "Rich" needs to be explored, just as inturpitation of the "Written word". The starving children are not the result of owning a computer or fine clothing. It is the result of greedy judgement. Why would "God" let children starve?
You wrote "We all live at a level of excess by "Gods" standards" yet is NOT "Gods" standards. This is ONE (of many) inturpitation. Fact is it is the standards of mainstream "Religion" and even then it is not agreed upon. ??
In "Jesus Time" there were many in the "Masses" and few in the "Rich" and it was the rich that wrote, adapted and changed the written word.
"God" gave us the ability to grow, adapt and enjoy the "fruits" of our labor. He asks for Faith and 10%. More important, he states "Love thy neighbor" plain and simple. Not love thy neighbor except for , ,,,,,??
Times have changed and the Divine I know, Honor and Cherish understands this "change". This is why we have the ability to adapt to the times. (change)
You are on a Spiritual path that is good. It works for you. However, as a "Sister" I find it difficult to understand your passing judgment. {"Judge not before self"} Judgment is THE greatest "Sin".
It is Human-kind that holds judgement against others in an unforgiving nature and places conditions on Gods Divine Love.
"God" is ALL forgiving in his judgement and ALL Loving UN-CONDITIONALLY. Thats HIS job and he did not ask ANYONE to take this task upon themselves just as "He" did not appoint anyone as Religious Leaders. Self chosen over the centuries, even the POPE is elected by humankind, no Divine intervention there.
It is great that folks can read and quote written words but is is not "Gods" law, it is Church Doctrine.
Your beliefs and Faith are good but please refrain from opinionated judgements.
As an Inter-Faith Minister, I have faced the challange of being called a "False Prophet" yet I have and will never "Prophetize" anyones demise.I have been told by "God" fearing folk; "You will burn in hell if you dont believe what we believe". Dogma, Judgement and Doctrine at its best.
My belief? I'll see you in Heaven with EVERYONE else!
We are ALL worthy of Un-Conditional Love and ALL connected to the Divine no matter who we are!

Ok... its not the being rich part that will stop you from going to heaven... its the way you got to be rich(if you took advantage of people, hurt people intensionally, ect) If you live an honest life, have a loving ,giving heart. You will pass over to "heaven" Our possesions have no influence on the other side. Its how you aquire them..and how you treat your fellow man.
Bless you

Not tobe disrespectful, but you must not be too worried about it because you ar obviously on a computer. But seriously, it is only the love of riches that is wrong, not the riches themselves and I agree with Nina 100%. Only by God's grace can we enter heaven. If there were any other means, Jesus wouldn't have had to die.

To put it politely, sister, "So what!" So what if we have better manufacturing than then. Children are starving in New York? Really? I'll bet they're pretty much all about twenty pounds overweight.

I believe you are either ignorant of reality or just a spammer in a habit.

As for the eye of the needle, "You first!"
