I had very damaged hair and now have shiny soft beautiful hair. Here is what I do: I get it trimmed every 5-6 weeks. (The first time you cut it, cut as much as you can stand) I only wash it every 2nd or 3rd day. I use great products before styling. I take vitamins. I switch back and forth with my shampoo and conditioner - one time I use the vitamin/cleansing set and then the next time I use the conditioning set. I get my products and haircuts at Toni & Guy. Good luck!

Unfortunately it sounds like your hair has been over processed by the perm solution. Once the hair is damaged there is really nothing you can do to revive it, it's going to be like that until you cut it off or grow it out. One thing that you can do to make it more manageable until one or the other happens is buy some placenta for hair. I don't know if you have a "Sally's" or a public hair products place in your area, but this stuff is protein in it's purest form and will penetrate your hair shaft and replace some of the broken protein bonds that were lost in the perming process. I could go into detail of what the perming process has done, but I'll just tell you that to help make your hair more manageable, you are going to need some sort of liquid protein for hair, if you can't find it yourself ask a professional. Also remember to moisturise the damaged hair every other day or so with a conditioner that doesn't contain a whole lot of alcohol, (think professional products)..., otherwise your the protein will eventually make your hair even more brittle than it was. Hope that helps....I'm a cosmetologist. ;)

Find a Redken salon and have a stylist do a "shot treatment". Wella makes a leave in called Reconstructurizer that has a tiny bit of protein in it, but not enough to make your hair brittle even with daily use. Use a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner like Joico Moisturizer. Stay away from the oil treatments, all those do is put a coat of oil on the outside of your hair, making it harder for moisturizing ingredients to penetrate the hair shaft. you need to repair the inside of the hair, not oil up the outside. be patient, it may take some time depending on how damaged your hair is.

Nexxus hair products are great. But also depending on how long your hair is buy a product (forgot the name sorry) that is made out of mayonnaise, put it in your hair, braid it and leave it in as long as you can. This stuff is great. Then wash it off. But the longer you keep it the better. If you have short hair then when you can stay home put that mayo stuff on with a shower cap for as long as you can then wash it off. Also when you shower after you shampoo put on the conditioner and put on a shower cap then let the warm water run on your head. If you have the shower cap with the conditioner on your hair the warm water makes it warm so it can penetrate into your hair better. Keep doing this and you will see some improvements. It really works, honey i have used almost everything under the rainbow i usto be obsessed with dying my hair it got rEaLLY bad at one point so i did this and it helps. GOod LuCk honey and leave your hair alone for a while.

The argan oil hair mask from the brand Pro Naturals is pretty awesome. It's a big tub and you use it once or twice a week. Probably twice for your hair if it's that damaged. Or get anything from that hair care line, all of their stuff is made for dry, damaged hair. It all helps.

eat more jello,
and have you tried the Hot Oil treatment by VO5?
It may not "seem" much differnt the first treatment,
but as the days pass, the hair gets better.
Also I am using the Suave Humectrix line of
shampoo and conditioner, but it's not for treated hair...
so if you want to keep your curls find another brand...
but the humectric is making it shiny and soft.
good luck.
I went through it...
just avoid hair dryers and in a few months
you can get one more hair cut...

You might try the oil treatments, Suave has two. Also, VO5 still has the tube conditioner. Try that. Try getting you hair trimmed, (just a tiny bit) as nice and even as possible, (and cute). Then always use shampoo and conditioner sets, Suave Salon Formula...(Sp.)... i can't even use it, it has so much oil.. I'm oilied hair/skin. Don't worry, you are in it for the endurance. Just keep using whatever works even if it is a little. Trims every month. My mommy and grandma were beauticians and my daughter and my have the "get to our hair real bads". You might not want to listen to me.

Pantene ProV Restoratives - Time Renewal Refining Mask.
I permed my hair and it was dry and split and all, you put this on your hair after shampooing for 5minutes (The first time I left it on for 10) and then rinse out. Do that everyother day for about a week. Also, to prevent seeing the frizzled hair, the last 30 seconds or washing your hair turn your water on as cold as you can stand and rinse your hair. This closes the hair and makes it silkier!
Hope this works for you! =)

i take multivitamin, biotin 5,000 IU, Vitamin E 400IU and super vitamin b-complex (yes that's what the vitamin is called) all of these can be found at walmart,CVS,etc. It will take at least 1 month to kick into your system. these are the basic components to healthy hair. if your hair isn't healthy it wont grow. Next try massaging the scalp with avocado, sweet almond oil, or jojoba oil with a few drops (3 drops at the most) of essential rosemary oil (once a week). all these can be found at a health good store or you can just mix the oil into your conditioner. you can also visit www.longhaircommunity.com they have allot of great info there
