The first thing to do is submit an amended and correct return. Then set up a payment plan for tax due if all cannot be paid at once. If it's past this point and IRS has already audited or started litigation, then perhaps hiring a tax lawyer might be best.

File an accurate and timely return and pay the taxes when due. That avoids problems in the first place.
What to tell you now depends upon what it going on with your tax issues. You haven't told us what the problem is so it's really impossible to advise you.

1. File timely,
2. If you owe request an installment agreement, using Form 9465.
3. If you owe over $25K, submit Form 433F, Collection Information Statement, along with Form 9465.
