I understand original intent of these garments was to remind them not to talk about Polygamy to non Mormons, and later to protect them from everything, do to John Smith being shot and killed when he wasn't waring them?

Where do people come up with this stuff?

Temple endowed LDS members wear garments. We do NOT consider them to be armor or to be a protection from everything. We consider them to be a reminder of our covenants. I consider it somewhat similar to other Christians wearing a cross to remind them of Christ.

Members of the LDS church do NOT practice polygamy. That is the mainstream mormon church with 13 millions members. Some of the much smaller off-shoots do indeed practice polygamy but they are not recognized as mormons by the LDS church.

The garments never had anything to do with polygamy at all. You do not know the purpose or "original intent" of the garment at all.

The name of the founder of our church is Joseph Smith, not John Smith. And of course he wasn't wearing garments. The church didn't have a temple at that time and therefore, no garments.

look under additional info.

It might help you to actually study some real history on the church instead of whatever the heck you have been reading to get this info.

No and no. Only those members that have been to the temple and take out their endowments wear undergarments. And no one still practices Polygamy. And you obviously do not understand, since that is not what they are to remind us of. They are to remind us of the covenants you make with the Lord when you go to the temple. They are not to remind us not to talk to others about polygamy. And the fact that they protect us is a myth. They are not magical.

No, we do not practice polygamy. Some groups referred to as "fundamentalist Mormons" practice polygamy, but they are not connected to our church in anyway.

Not all people in our church wear garments. Only those who have been through the temple. No, they are not armor.

No! people who're training polygamy now.. are actually not following the classes. Polygamy exchange into stopped some hundren years in the past. Mormons (LDS) are actually not linked with the folk who prepare polygamy.

I don't know about the underwear, though I think that's a no. As for polygamy, that has been denounced by the LDS church; apparently God took that particular revelation back. There are people who call themselves Fundamentalists who still practice polygamy, but the LDS church doesn't even recognize them as Mormons.

Interesting note about the timing of God taking back His mandate for polygamy: Utah was vying for statehood, but couldn't get it, in part, because polygamy was allowed there. There was a meeting by their men in charge during which they stated that God gave them a revelation that polygamy was not to be practiced anymore. Once they officially denounced it, they got their statehood.

Latter-day Saints, who have been to the temple, wear sacred garments under their regular clothing to remind them of the sacred covenants that they have made with God.

No. They do not.

They still use the undergarment, yes.

The don't practice polygamy anymore. The fundamentalists do.

[Edit] Not all use the undergarment. Sorry if what I said is misleading.
