It doesn't really matter what you do first, they all need your marriage certificate. I went to the DMV first and changed my license, that also changes your voter registration card. Then you won't have to carry around your marriage license, your other accounts should accept your license as proof. Next, you will have to notify your life insurance policies to change your beneficiary (if necessary) the bank, your credit cards, utilities, you can do them one at a time. It was a very slow process for me.

Y!A puts all of the questions from the UK, Canada, USA and Australia into one big pot. It causes more confusion than anything else they do.
We are all just guessing. Tell us what country you live in and what you want to add it to. Are you doing a family tree? Do you want to change from being Mary Jones to being Mrs. John Smith, or Mary Jones-Smith? Do you have a tombstone with your name already carved in it?

Go to the social security office with your marriage license. When you get your new social security card, you can get a new driver's license and then change everything else.
