to be dislocated, I think it popped out and popped back.

I'm icing it right now, but it's a nasty bruise and my thumb from the second joint up is really burning.

I know how to handle bruises but not a possible dislocation. An emergency room trip would be really expensive, so if continuing to ice it won't cripple me, I'd like to continue.

What should I do?

I got my sister to test and see if it was dislocated. She does really intense martial arts and this kind of thing happens all the time. She said it was fine.

Ibuprofen is an anti-inflamatory, take small doses of it for the next couple of days, it should reduce swelling and easy any pain you might have.

The pop could have been similar to when you crack a joint or you could have temporarily pulled it out of socket.

Do you have joints that hyper extend (double-jointed)? That could explain a lot. Mine are and they come out of joint regularly.

continue to ice it for the rest of the day, if it gets worse or continues to hurt badly then go to the doctor.
