Yes, and no. I do believe in free speech, as long as it's not racist or overly abusive.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me."

I did not block the offender, you got to be able to take the good with the bad. Some people are not always as nice as you would like them to be. I am not always the best answerer, but I try to be sensitive to others and their situations. When you block someone, you block your learning curve, so just keep it moving, there are so many people on this website that are positive that they outweigh the negative ones.

I was told I was 'lonely, horny and vindictive' after asking a question about a plumber!! He also said I was childish for bringing God into something - I'd used 'good Lord' as a colloquialism, perhaps I shouldn't have done but I didn't think. I reported the guy - who wasn't a troll either, he'd just made this horrendously inaccurate judgement over a perfectly innocent question I'd asked. Don't know what happened to him though.

A long time ago, some guy on here sent me a message ridiculing me just because I answered a question, saying that Jesus Christ can help you get over depression. He's like, "I cannot honestly believe you do not have any sorrow in your life." He was jumping to conclusions and acting like a two-year-old.
I didn't block him, unfortunately, because I was very naive at the time and didn't know anything about the tools of YA. And now I can't remember who it was. But whoever it was, he was- and probably still is - very negative and skeptical.

I see you have been visiting the R&S board. The zealots out there feel they can insult you into believing their irrational viewpoint. That somehow hate-filled speech spewing out of their mouth will make you somehow realize you are wrong and you'll convert. On the R&S board we actually discuss our hate mail and it's a source of pride. If you haven't gotten any, you are not a "regular" to the board. However I'm on a couple month boycott of it after being all filled up with crazy.

No I don't block them...I initially ask them if they have a question they wanted clarification on and calmly explain my position. I hope that it will show them that attacking is not part of a discussion. I ask them questions on what appeared to be their point of view and respond with some statistics or additional info on my point of view.

I always hold the point of view, never type something you wouldn't want read outloud in a court of law. I dont bother to block them though.

However after about 2 responses they get mad you aren't regressing into name calling and stop writing. I haven't had to block one yet. Though several friends have been blocked from the board b/c the angry name-caller systematically went through and Reported every answer, every question my friend posted.

Such is the world of internet. In every normal event, you get a couple crazies. I've run into a couple crazies on Ebay too.

Just once! I don`t know if I should have been flattered or not! She called me a skinny kid. First I`m 61 yrs. old and far from skinny! This is back when they didn`t have the option to block people. I have found that most people are kind and helpful on here.

Once there was a response that sounded a little curt...but I just chalked it up to that person was having a bad day...and obviously a hard time dealing with him or her self. No, blocking done in hopes that he felt better after seeing what he wrote.

Yes, yes, and I've been cloned numerous times. It's gotten to the point where I had to register my photo with yahoo to prove I'm me and not a hater. Of course I blocked which I think made them fight harder against me.
