Is it worth getting a PS3 before christmas or will it go down in the January sales?

Will it, do you think, drop dramatically by January and is it worth the wait? Are the best games out for it already?

It's only just had a price reduction and is starting to shift. Consoles aren't something that traditionally goes down in the sales and I can't see this being any different this year, especially by any great margin.
You may find some shops bundling in extra games or such (but half the time the games are sh*t and they're just dumping excess stock).
There are some excellent games out for it now (Ratchet and Clank, Call of duty 4, Motorstorm, Uncharted (due in a week or so), etc) and loads out early next year (including Devil may cry 4, GTA4, and Metal gear 4).

You will not see much of a price drop if any in Jan.

40 Gig = 2 USB ports w/ no memory card slots + does not play PS1, PS2 games
60 Gig = 4 USB ports w/ memory card slots + plays PS1, PS2 games

There are some good games out (ie Warhawk, COD 4) I play both PS3 and my XBOX 3FIXME... both have perks, but by summer next year, you will be so happy that you purchased a PS3 over the XBOX.

Developers are starting to be very limited w/ 3FIXME games... web search GTA 4 = XBOX 3FIXME > multiple disc... PS3 > 1 disc. This is just a start of the trend to come.

I don't think so, you're probably better of trying to find a deal now. If you woulld prefer the 60GB version, you should get it before stocks run out. If, however, you don't mind about getting the 60GB version you could wait until next Spring and get Dualshock 3 with your console. There are lots of good games out for it right now like Motorstorm, Resistance, Heavenly Sword and Elder Scrolls as well as several ones that are coming out soon or in the new year like Uncharted, Haze, and Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII are meant to come out next year.

I can't see how they could lower the price any more, they're losing big money already on each unit they sell. Blu-Ray is the cause of that. Are the best games out already, short answer, no, they are plenty of good titles to come, Killzone 2, MGS4, Socom, and tons of others. There are some that are very good that are out already, Heavenly Sword, COD4, Ratchet & Clank, Warhawk, Resistance is still good, Uncharted is coming out next week and that game is going to be awesome. Early reviews on that have been reading very well for that game. Assassin's creed is out now, so there are quite a few good to great games out for the system already, and there are more coming.

i doubt that they'll go down any more they already lowered the price to $499 in time for xmas season
as for the games the best ones will start coming out next year
i have both ps3 and xbox 360 and i prefer ps3 even though the 360 has more games and more exclusives, but it's only because they have a 1 year head start on ps3.
also the graphics on ps3 are way better and i prefer the ps3 control over the 360 its lighter and more comfortable plus it has a better layout

I don't think the price is going to drop I think it going to be the same price but with maybe a game or a controller added to it....but like some of the others peeps have said if you want the 60 gig ps3 then I suggest you get that now because after their gone their gone and I myself feel that the best console out there as far as the version of ps3. The 40 gig doesn't play any ps2 games while the 80 gig play a selected amount...the 60 gig play almost all of your ps1 and 2 games. (If your planning on playing ps1 and 2 games on your console...i just use my ps2 for those games.) But good luck as far as games there warhawk, resistance, madden, ncaa, heavenly sword, and lots more of game depending on your type of games you like.....I'm still playing resistance my first game purchase but one of my favorite games! It beat halo don't care what anyone says!!!!! There assassin creed and uncharted treasure or whatever coming out soon and they both look like awesome game!!! anyways you can go to this site and check out what game are coming out......o and as far as xbox let me just say "red circle of death" if your a gamer or plan on playing your console for more than a couple of hours....you will be a victim of the 360.....

In my day all you had was a hoop and a stick to be amused by. Many a happy day running down the street in my short trousers, long socks and strapped sandels. Tripping up loose paving slabs and gashing your knees open, running back to Mommy to have the open wound rubbed with a lump of coal and have vinegar and salt rubbed into it to stop the bleeding.

For the price of a PS3, we could have gone on a fortnight's holiday to Great Yarmouth, had fish n chips every single meal, and still have had change to put Gran in a nursing home for 5 years.

The price wont drop no the best games are coming out in the first quarter of the new year at the mo get need for speed pro street out friday week and uncharted out 7th december

They will be cheaper, but the 60gb console might not be around because they are phasing them out. Meaning the only the 40gb will be left which can not play PS2 games.
