Normally, in the first half of the day I'm not hungry and eat little. Then, in the afternoon I start eating more. Later on I get even more hungry and eat quite a bit. The end result is that I sleep poorly.

I don't really understand why the urge to eat is so high later in the day. I'm a skinny guy not doing too much physical work. It seems like I shouldn't be very hungry at all.

If I try to not eat after 6:00PM, like the experts suggest, I can't sleep. It's like I need a pile of food as a drug to knock me out.

Any idea on how I can change that habit? Thanks.

Try to actually eat about the same amount of food through out the day. You want to shoot for about 6 smaller meals spaced throughout the day. I would also say just don't eat 2-3 hours before bedtime. Also try eating more fruits and veggies. These are both full of fiber, and fiber will make you feel more full for a longer period of time. Also low fat protein is a good way to make you feel fuller longer.

Change the timing of your eating. Another thing when we are thirsty, we feel we are hungry. There is a very thin line between the urge to eat and urge to drink. Drink a lot of non alcoholic drinks and you will see the difference

Third thing do not read or watch TV while eating. Pay whole attention on your food. As there is mechanism by which mind gets signal that you have eaten but if you don't allow eye to see food properly being eaten that signal does not reach the brain and you feel hungry. So there may be one or all the reasons I mentioned above.

This happens to me sometimes. What helps it is to eat the bulk of your calories early in the day. So even if you aren't really hungry early in the day, (probably as a result of eating so much the night before), eat anyway. A hearty breakfast, a more medium lunch, a regular dinner and that should do it.

Good luck.

Pack the lunch till she is a little older and for gods sake don't call a doctor my god people the doctor can not make her child eat while she is at daycare, this is a phase she will grow out of it . but pack the lunch see if the daycare providers will offer her the food there to make the transition from home food to the strange new food she is seeing, it will come. soon she will prefer the schools food and not want to take a lunch . good luck.

It would be a good idea to make sure you eat more in the day and less at night.Even if your not hungry, still eat more and try foods that will fill you up more like pasta, rice, foods high in fibre and carbs. Try not to eat anything after 8pm.
