The Treaty of Tripoli said that the USA's government was not founded in any way upon Christianity, and President John Adams agreed with it. George Washington agreed too. Washington did not allow Christianity or God to be in our Constitution. A creator is mentioned, but it is the Deist creator, since Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, Paine, etc. were Deists. A motion to mention Jesus in the Declaration of Independence was rejected by he majority present. Jefferson forbid the Bible to be taught in public schools in his home state of Virginia, and he wrote his own Bible. It is obvious that if the USA was really founded upon Christianity, there would not be freedom of religion or speech. I am sure many believers will lie and try to ignore the real history of our nation in answering this question. I have seen that often before.

It wasn't founded for Christians and the religion of the Founders has nothing to do with anything. When Jefferson wrote the Declaration he had no references to God and it was a lot longer. The Continental Congress had a field day with it, making it something that everyone could read. The original Declaration was much longer and more lawyerly than what we have now.
The idea was that the government had to leave everyone alone about what they wanted to do religiously.

America was not found FOR Christians, but for religious freedom from the tyrany of a governmentally forced religious requirement.
In fact, part of the constitution declares that government shall not restrict the free right to worship, nor impose religion on the people.
Of course, today people have changed that to say that religion can not affect government, but originally it was that government could not affect religion.

Primoa I love you. I really do. But your version of history is just so warped sometimes
God is stated no where in the Bill of Rights or the Constitution. Don't believe me? Look it up.
The Treaty of Tripoli specifically stated that the US was not a Christian nation in article 11. The same men that people claim based the country of Christianity voted unanimously on this.
So how exactly does that make it a strictly Christian nation? Read history. Don't rewrite it.

It really is a shame, that the reason this country was sought after so badly was because people wanted religious freedom to pray the way they wanted to pray... but now, we have millions of Americans who want to take us back to what our ancestors ran from in the first place...
If there is anyone that wants their lives ran by a religious dictator it is they who should move out...

America wasn't founded by "christians". it was founded by everyday individuals some of who were fleeing religious persecution and such. That's why there's such an effort to distinguish the separation of church and state in the founding documents -- they didn't want perpetuate a system of oppression they themselves were fleeing.
"christians" were just some of the people who left europe.

separation of church and state meant that there should be no governmental forced religion such as ( the church of England concept) or registered controlled churches as they have in china...
religious freedom has now become politically correct to amputate instead of tolerate......

simple.... it wasn't.
It was founded by Christians...not for Christians..
The bill of rights was not created on the principles of religion, rather the principles of religious freedom and human rights.
